Hey GIT! Seems we have to take it on the chin. Looking at what our attackers believe in is considered strawman argumenting.

It's not irony in this case because these two jokers are unable to communicate via any other means.

I dont feel anyone has denied finding wrong doing or sin in every church organization that exists.
It may feel like the 2x2s are ganged up on cause after all, this is a 2x2 board.

I must admit to being overjoyed at the honesty of folks in this thread, and indeed, the courage people have demonstrated in confessing the errors of wider denominationalism. As a consequence, I feel as though it is important for me to be honest and forthright about the Church, expressing and confronting her sins with mourning, and seeking to deal with them. (Not that I believe I was ever dishonest or non-forthright). I admit there are problems within the Church. As I have said in private correspondence to my brethren around the world, " There are several concerns which have been raised by the exes which have long been held by those of us who love the Church". However, I will also be the first to state that many issues raised by exes are matters of perception or opinion. Off-hand, I can think of only two or three points of valid concern. I admit to feeling closer and more connection to the people who posted in this thread with kindliness, maturity and wisdom than I have for a long time. I appreciate your honesty. It is precious to me. GIT, Now that you've admitted that the f & W is equally as flawed as "general denominations", you will be writing letters to ALL of the overseers in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Great Britain, US, Canada, etc. etc. to get it corrected, right?! Okay, good! Glad that's taken care of! And, by the way, maybe the reason it SEEMS that we are picking only on the f & w is because this is a Board discussing the F & W!!! and not all other religions. Jeesh! Edy

Hold on a minute Ed! I did not say equally flawed.
You will be writing letters to ALL of the overseers in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Great Britain, US, Canada, etc. etc. to get it corrected, right?!
How could I presume to lecture to a Worker? They are put in their office by the will of God, and it is my role to submit to their guidance through the Holy Spirit.
And, by the way, maybe the reason it SEEMS that we are picking only on the f & w is because this is a Board discussing the F & W!!! and not all other religions.
I have commented on this before that there seems to be two rules. If you're an exe you can discuss Mormonism, Roman Catholicism, even Buddhism. You can comment on atheism, videos related to evangelical worship, and you can discuss a variety of messages presented by pastors during weekend worship. You can post snippets of semons spoken by St. Augustine.
But when we Friends do it, we are told, "We're here only to discuss the Friends and Workers. Get with the programme."
As you can imagine, this leaves us looking at each other in puzzlement and surprise, thinking... "I guess our perspective is considered less worthy because we are critical of "traditional" and "contemporary" church structures which we view as unbiblical." I might have even asked you before, Ed: how can you justify this double standard?

I would agree.
Pointing out the fact that sin exists in equal measure in "Christendom" everywhere is not popular, especially when we can furnish concrete examples from print or from published articles, and the opposition can furnish only hearsay.
One thing is certain - exe claims about our Church would not stand up in a court of law under stern legal scrutiny. And cases involving exes and the Friends have proven this in the past.

Add me to the list that sees the corruption in churches.
The reason I attend another church is not because it is corruption free. My soul is fed, I LOVE the interactive Bible studies and discussion times, I am allowed the freedom to be a God guided believer..not appearance equal evidence of salvation/conformity etc.., there are positive, Bible based youth/family programs, I love the freedom of accepting many brothers and sisters worldwide regardless of denomination, I love the focus of all believers being sharers of Jesus.....etc. etc. Also, if I want to know about the structure, doctrine or scandals, they aren't elusive, for the most part. There were two churches in the Gospels:
One church had a thief and traitor hidden in its midst The other openly stole from the scripture, and betrayed the scripture's intent.
One faced sin in the breach of its principles. The other faced sin in openly observing its principles.
The other church of course was the church of the Jews.
Moral equivalence is a form of Justification.

I wonder when everybody (f&w, exes) is going to get it. It's not an us vs. them deal. It's about seeking God together in Spirit and in truth. Love is what it's about. Why can't we get that? Why can't we pool our resources and fight our enemy, our true enemy together? Who is our true enemy? Is it f&w? Is it exes? Blessings, Linda

Edy, as I said in another thread....it may be a board to disuss the f&w...but we discuss all sort of things here, after all....and many if not MOST of the people here either go to a different type of church or belong to a different religion (if any) altogether now...so, I don't think it's inappropriate AT ALL to mention other churches, etc. M.

Hi Linda! That says it all right there. Some of those that I correspond with who are professing understand that it is not an 'us' vs 'them'. If we are truly Christians, then we all are a part of the same Church. (body of Christ) It's not about with who, are where we worship... It's all about HOW we worship. Thanks for the spirit in which you post here. Scott

I do not believe anyone that is Born again would say there are no problems in their fellowship. Those that do are livng in a dreamland not Christian reality. We do not know the outcome of fallen Christians. Many have recieved their punishment or reward in this life. God is a just God and aren't we so very glad he is merciful or we wouldn't have a place in the kingdom.
