Don't do it ladies!! It's Satan himself, trying to lure you off the Only True Pathway!! Next, he'll be daring you to wear makeup and jewelry. Before you know it, you'll have a tongue stud and purple hair, and you'll be selling your body on the street. It's a slippery slope! Don't fall for it, don't fall for it!!
Keep that hair knotted on top of your head where it belongs, iron your best jean skirt, and show this Lucifer that you're still in subjection to...um...uh...well, you know, show him that you're still in subjection!

;D I dare any of you exes to go to your witches covenants, Ron Hubbard festivals, prayer wheel services, Psychics fortune tellings, Jedi Masters convention, Elvis reincarnation groups or crop-circle gatherings - stark naked with the sign of the devil tattooed on your butt. bert, you really are an ass. This is the lamest crap yet to come out of your sewage-filled brain.

Bert, are your words an example of the "right spirit" we exes should have?

Here is a less challenging one for you: Pick a book; any hard cover will do. balance it on your head and walk around a city block.
I dare you.

Hey...remember the good old game of "truth or dare"? Takes on a whole new meaning! lol. It might be fun to come up with some honest-to-goodness challenges.
P.S. added by edit, Like I wouldn't walk in to a meeting now in a pair of pants and I'm an ex. Although I did unintentionally awhile back because the workers invited me to have a discussion at my sister's house, and didn't realize I was walking in to a full-blown gospel meeting! Ugh.

bert, you really are an ass. This is the lamest crap yet to come out of your sewage-filled brain. People go into offices everyday and wear what the office expects. It is not because the office is a cult or trying to control the people who work there but they are setting the standard they expect from their employees. I wear a suit because that is what the dress is for the office. Never be under dressed. And all of our clients wear suits! So Bert's example made a lot of sense. Just as a male wouldn't a service in a Synagogue without donning a yamaka. Well, maybe you would. The bigger question is - why the focus on what people wear? It's basically a social setting. Would you attend a formal wedding in a bathing suit? Would you go to a soccer match in a tux?

Bert's examples do not make sense, and I'll tell you why. 2x2's DO go to meeting, and exes do not go to the things Bert mentioned. Yes, I believe if you're going to a meeting, wear the attire that's expected. If you feel the dress code is inappropriate, or non-scriptural, then meetings probably aren't the place for you.

Would you attend a formal wedding in a bathing suit? Would you go to a soccer match in a tux? Do all of your female clients wear suits with a skirt, or with pants? Are they not equally acceptable? The question here is not formal or informal attire, as there is a lot of formal pantsuits out there for women. It is acceptable for a woman to go to a formal wedding or funeral in a pantsuit. If that is your argument, it should also be acceptable for a woman to wear a pantsuit at meeting, should it not? And what about preps? Certainly work clothes are in order there, eh?? Looks to me like there is a LOT of stress put on clothing, and the outward appearance. If not, simply out of common sense, women would wear jeans or shorts to preps. freedom

EXCELLENT post, showing beyond doubt (and from the horse's mouth that is) that what is euphemistically called « The Truth», is something similar to Hubbard festivals, prayer wheel services, Psychics fortune tellings, Jedi Masters convention, Elvis reincarnation groups or crop-circle gatherings. Bert, you could have added JWs or any other cult for this puprose. EXCELLENT post indeed ...

The bigger question is - why the focus on what people wear? It's basically a social setting. Would you attend a formal wedding in a bathing suit? Would you go to a soccer match in a tux? That is a VERY good question. The church I go to there is NO emphasis on what people wear. It is just simply not important. Everyone dresses in normal clothes. Some women wear dresses, most wear pants or shorts. Some men wear shorts, some wear pants. But I've yet to see someone come in a bathing suit. This crazy dress code of the 2x2's just shows that there is a HUGE focus on the outward appearance, in my opinion. They have forgotten the whole purpose of meeting together, is about God, and their SOUL being saved. I doubt God even notices what they are wearing. He certainly doesn't want people judging each other on the basis of clothing. Maybe there is such an emphasis on the outward, because there is such a lack of actual internal substance ?

My daughter wears jeans (pants kind, not skirt kind) to Wed. night Bible Study. Hair up, hair down. Earrings every now and then. Flip-flops with painted toenails. Also painted fingernails. Ummm-what else. I have seen painted toenails (hers) on Sun. am also. She takes part but is not yet baptized and from what I have read here probably won't anytime soon as she is dating outside her faith. I'm 40ish and usually go with a ponytail. Scandalous I know but I hate my long hair and despise putting it up all the time. Pins and pain everywhere. (whine, whine) Well, I don't hate it but it is a thorn in my side sometimes. Lots of times.

Congratulations! Your daughter wins first prize for courage. We are reminded of the verse, "and a little child shall lead them." And you, her mother, are to be praised for allowing her to go to meeting like this. You are indeed a rare breed. Wonderful! You allow your daughter to be a real teen! She will not spend the rest of her life emotionally damaged because of you.

I wonder why Police bother to wear a uniform? Won't a military uniform make you a target in war? Why do school children have to identify with their school by wearing a school uniform? Why can't I go to a job interview in singlet and shorts? Why does a woman get upset if you take her out to a restaurant in my overalls? IT SHOULDN'T MATTER IF IT OFFENDS.

better yet, just let me rip that dress off right now, and do you good right here !! as long as your going change clothes, lets have a little fun. That will be 5 demerits for you, sir, due to lewd posting behaviour! Shame on you, you horny toad--: do you not know that some things are better left unsaid, especially in the presense of LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now then: Perhaps it would be helpful to ask some of the following questions if and when one is wondering whether certain behaviours or style of dress would be appropriate: (consider the setting/situation)
1.) Am I being offensive to other people? 2.) Am I modest? 3.) Is what I am doing edifying to the Kingdom? Edifying--: meaning nourishing and building up--: ? 4.) Am I glorifying God?
My lands, let's do some self-evaluation here: examine yourselves, people! One should be bringing honor and glory to God, above all else! Or else, you shall be in danger of eternal torment in hell's kitchen!

nb Your viewpoint is not your own, it has borrowed from a permissive and secular culture. So, Bert, you are saying that the 2x2 women need to wear a "uniform" to identify them as a 2x2? And wearing a dress is their uniform? Why wouldn't the men be required to wear a uniform also? This is not about their job, it's about what's in their heart, and that cannot be proven by a uniform. What do you mean by "nb", and yes, my viewpoint IS my own, thank you .
