Yep!..born in Oregon, moved to Iowa a couple days later- don't seem to remember much about Oregon??- ran all over the world, presently living over here in east central Iowa..about 20 miles down the road from Malcom. What's your story..if ya care to tell it? ..

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny -- don't be confusing people. Everyone knows that it is OHIO that has the potatoes, IDAHO has the corn, and IOWA is the Buckeye state!

"SOONER" or later y'all will git it right......and YOU of all people, Gene...... Ahhh yes - when I was a young man I called Iowa my home. I remember sitting in a mango grove in Iowa with the one I was sure was the only one for me. I can still hear the breeze in the leaves and smell the fruit. Sunday after meetings we would all go to the beach and watch the ships come and go and dream of being on one and sailing to lands far across the sea. Sometimes we could sneak away among the mangroves and spend a few stolen moments in a passionate embrace, always worried some adult would suddenly appear. Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end. Picking fruit right off the tree and eating it with the warm orange juice running down your chin. Mmmm - brings a smile to my face.

Our forbidden love would have shocked those around us but that night we just didn't care. Remember the night we found the hand of bananas in that old plantation? It must have been one of the few trees left over from before everyone in Iowa switched to sorghum, corn, and potatoes. I don't think there was one banana that hadn't been smashed! What a mess. Even after the passage of years those sultry October evenings mean so much to me.
