SV - yes, we have heard that too. Something called the "Gospel of Judas" was it not? I wouldn't believe a word of it.

mmmmh bert, dont be so quick to dismiss. there may well be some truth to it; dont forget jesus had to be betrayed by someone to fulfill scripture, that person either had no free will and is therefore condemmed without any choice or possibility of mercy (not my idea of god) or was an instrumental part in the crucifixion story like the theif, the centurion, mary, peter etc. perhaps he was the most loved disciple and gave up a huge amount that jesus would die ("to whom much is given much is also expected "?).

SV - many people fullfilled scripture by rejecting it.

Exactly, Bert! Many people deny Christ (reject scripture) by accepting that the words of a worker, priest, pastor, etc. are true and right. You have to question any religious group who expects one not to question the things that are told to them by those that "lead". That is the nature of a cult.

Don't know where this thread is going - that word "question" means two very different things. Firstly to question as in searching for answers. Secondly, to question as in contesting something.

Don't know where this thread is going - that word "question" means two very different things. Firstly to question as in searching for answers. Secondly, to question as in contesting something. Both questionings would apply. First you seek to learn and once you have learned, then you you seek to contest. Example: Outsider: Do you have rules on TV? Worker: No. A few months later. Had TV, but not baptised. Convert: Well, when I first attended I was told there were no rules on TV. Why the difference now? Worker: It is not a rule, but a guideline.

Well, I have found, numerous times, that workers open their mouths and stuff just falls out. For example, a worker who knows my parents well, decided to vist their errant child (me) and straighten me out. At the dinner (which had been all but demanded) table in my home she asked me how long my husband and I had been separated. I gave her the true answer, "Just since he passed away." I determined at that time that she was about as sharp as a marble. She hadn't even taken the time to find out what my circumstances were. If you haven't had such an experience don't question the validity of what anyone has been told by a "WORKER". Just know, that I have no need or time to create stories. Workers are just people and allow themselves to be placed on a teetery pedestal (which some of them relish) by saints who will believe anything they say.
To the Judas thing...what would have happened if, rather than trying to take the money back, he had gone to Jesus to make things right? One can only speculate about that. He wouldn't have been able to stop the the crucifixion but it might have changed his end - certainly Jesus would never had suggested suicide. We can't shortcut going to Jesus!

Hi Greg, re seeking and contesting. Kind of hard to shoehorn various questions, answers and analogies all into one here...
he - are there rules about other women when we are married? she - none at all
later
he - but you said there were no rules! she - It didnt need saying. I thought you would have lost your appetite for other women.

Reminds me of the person who strays and says, "I wasn't looking." But they were seeing well enough. LAME!
