The current youth that are active in the Christian Home Church do good stuff as follows: 1. Team fund raising for Muscular Dystrophy including the boot block during Labor Day. 2. Team fund raising for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) 3. Catrina help on the Gulf Coast. (went to help) 4. Active in Fellowship Christian Athletes . . . including being sponsor. 5. Coach of State Champion Basketball Team. 6. Active in many school activies inclsing athletics, band, National Honor Society, Student Concil, DECA, VICA, FFA, class officers, prom commitee, etc. 7. Active in politics. ie . Republican National Committee. 8. Active in National Day of Prayer. 9. Young workers taking college classes and teaching religion at college. 10. Civic groups ie. Lions's Club, Rotary, etc.
Many of the activies listed above will draw more "friends" than the Gospel Meetings. The Ministers (workers) also participate.

This is one of the critical issues that other Christian groups have with the "home church" is that they do not reach out to the community. The above list shows that the group is changing and is trying to "reach out", at least as individuals or as groups of individauls. I know that we now have many school leaders that are part of the "home church". We have several high school cheerleaders along with high and college athletes in our area. I even know of one of the group that made it all the way to the NFL. (Atlanta - not a big name player or low draft choice so you have never heard of him, but he was on the team)

and if you believe that..........
Of course, if you'd included this NFL player's name, we probably would believe it, because we could do our own research and discover it was true.

I am not sure that the NFL player wants his church preference posted on a public forum. It is true as he obtained game tickets for me and my friends and I went to meeting with his wife. I am also not real concerned if you believe it or not.

When you say Christian Home Church, are you referring to the fellowship of the "friends and workers" founded by William Irvine?

Could be five or six people in one area doing this.
Still, if there be any truth to the matter, good for them. And let us pray they have such strength to speak against the exclusivity.

Great Job! You can spell! In our area, calling someone a liar is fighting words! Are you prepared for that? We are not Amish. How about a team of 50 youth? The posters refuse to accept any positive comment about the group, so it is hopeless. Sorry that I bothered you. Let's just continue to talk about stuff that happened 50 years ago.

The difference is that the stuff that happened 50 years ago have names attached and the stuff you've posted here is nameless.

Good Stuff
If you're a 2 x 2 and you've been in our church for any length of time, then you'll understand the difficulty many of us will have in accepting your posting as true. Can you give us a country, or an area of some kind?

Active in Fellowship Christian Athletes . . . including being sponsor.
What form did this sponsorship take? Were the workers involved and/or in agreement? Do they expect you to evangilize in this setting or can/do you accept other members of FCA as brother/sisters in Christ?

The sponsor is a teacher in the school. They pray at the pole, etc. The sponsor is also a coach in the high school. Yes the workers support the activity. The (workers) have been commencment speakers.

Most of the names that are freely posted on the boards are the names of dead people. Many live people do not want their names on the boards.

The (workers) have been commencment speakers. Give us names, dates and places so we can confirm. This statement is highly suspect. With the separation of church and state I don't think a school would have a worker be the speaker...unless they lied about their profession (that is their UNpaid job!) and IF it is true, I pity the poor people who had to sit thru a graduation speech from the likes of any of these. What possible advice could they give young people for being responsible, productive members of society? ?? They certainly are not positive role models.

Sorry - mistake - Baccalaureate not commencement. You are correct as this would not be allowed in a public school. Baccalaureae is optional. ERROR CORRECTION

Howdy, One of the things I like to do is check out who is having a birthday, and then click on their name and see what they have posted about. It brings up interesting old posts from the past days on the TMB. Today is 'Yellow's' birthday. Happy birthday to you Yellow...if you happen to log on here! Anyhow, I found this to be a very interesting thread. Other than the original poster, I never really saw any evidence from anyone else that this had actually happened, so thought I would ask if anyone else has any information about it. It would be great if this were true. Scott

It would be great if this were true. Scott Thanks for bringing this up again Scott! We can all appreciate old posts like this for our own reasons. When this thread was originally started, I was a 2x2 cheerleader seeking desperately for the good in Truth, denying the bad, and on my own public relations campaign to make Truth look as good as possible. Now, a year and a half later, I've grown up. I've moved away from worshiping a religion. I now find rest and peace in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is interesting to see the contrast between the way I once felt and the way I feel now, when I read this thread. God's work in my life has been marvelous. I'm shedding my brainwashing. I no longer believe posts like the first in this thread without some critical thinking. Where is the proof? Where is some shred of evidence that this really happened? I can now say that I hope it happened, but doubt it did, and know that for the first time, I've read it and I'm being honest with myself.

Before the age of 20, I participated in school activities (band, choir, orchestra, speech, theatre, student government, Prayer at the Flag Pole) as well as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and 4H. In college I did hundreds of hours of community service-- building trails, sprucing up yards, correcting housing code violations for the elderly, sorting donated medical supplies to send to Africa, organizing food pantries, entertaining children at fundraiser carnivals, and cleaning up parks. I have professing acquaintances who do fundraising for United Way and JDRF. I've seen photos of professing kids eating pizza while taking a short break from sandbagging to save their city from a flood. Maybe there are a some young people who live a sheltered and restricted life in this church, but I sure haven't met many of them!

Where do you live? When I was growing up I would have "given my left arm" or just about anything to do even one of these things you list above. Yes, I was B&R as well.
Praise be to God for getting me OUT and showing me what life is meant to be. I'm FREE and following Jesus as he's meant to be followed.
