Is any of you from Canada? I am wondering how many of you remember Silverdale Convention? I remember going there, and I beleive it was one while the Abbotsford airshow was running. Some of the people present use to stand out in the parking lot and watch. I beleive at one point the planes circled over top, and someone phone to ask them not to. Now Silverdale has been replaced by Glen Valley and 2nd Glenn Valley is on this week end and also the Airshow, so I wonder how many have gone to the airshow at Convention!! Does any one also have a speakers list for this one.

Yes I remember Silverdale -- The trans-Canada highway a few yards from the parking lot -- The main line CP railroad just a little further away -- The Frazer river within view will all the traffic on it --- and then the airshow at Abbotsford with planes turning just over the convention grounds. Lots of noise -- but rather quaint.

I happened to live on the West Coast, and use to go to the Sunday morning meeting there amny years ago. I was past Silverdale the other day, and this was my memory. I professed here. The grounds now are much different, houses where the meeting tent was, a yard where the mens tents were, and a house where the dining tent was, and one house where the houses were where the Workers slept. The old buildings been removed, and across the road where the parking and trailers were still remain, some the smaller buildings are hide with blackberries. The highway that goes by is two lanes now.

And how about Oakville convention. I remember a thread with a picture and even the Canadians didn't know where it had been located.

Hi Healb, Silverdale was the convention I attended while growing up --- quite a few years ago now! I'm not living in that area anymore, but I've wondered several times what the property might look like these days . Thanks for the update. I have many great memories of convention time at Silverdale - and I use to love hearing those trains go by. Remember the speech at the end of each convention warning motorists to be extra cautious when turning onto the trans-Canada highway?? I was always fascinated with the milking of the cows (being a city girl), and spent plenty of time hanging over the stall fences watching. Good memories for me.. p.s. I also professed there.

Wonder if any of you know or heard Ramus Pripp. Believe he was in the Work overseas somewhere can't remember where. He was one of the visiting workers at Silverdale one year. He had one of his heart spells during one of the Meetings, and was carried out. The carrying of him from the Meeting tent to the kitchen was what likely help revive him, as it was none to smooth. Another thing i remember at Silverdale. Ya I do very vaguely remember the cow milking, and this event I recall was the old rooster at 4 in the morning. part of the barn was the ladies sleeping quarters, and half was the hay loft and milking area. By the way that barn is still there and STILL green., aslo the sleeping quarter that was by the house, it still is there and also green. The rest has all been divided into small properties.

To the person mentioning Oakville. That is a very old convention before 1966, not sure of the exact date. It was located not far out of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. That convention was moved to a new location, which is the present Portage Convention. I beleive the family was Bedome (not sure of spelling). I am familiar with a few of the conventions because of hearing mention of them in visits. i was doing some family research stuff and also saw mention of Oakville, and the Bedome family. I have not further details of it than what I read at that time.
