jxr - my presumption is that there are two babies here, sharing the one body. Does the soul arrive at the time of conception or at some other time? At the time of conception there was there one soul allocated? If you assume 2 souls it means you are associating the souls with the brain and those functions. Does this mean when the brain ceases to function the soul is gone? Do babies born with non-functioning brains have souls?

;)Does not god live in our hearts, so could you persume that god in in our hearts and our sole is in our hearts. If our heart dies, then so does our mind, and everything else. Someone can be kept alive on life support if their mind dies or part of their mind. But if the heart dies, you can not be kept alive because you can no deliver much needed life giving oxygen around the body. (OK so maybe you can be kept alive with some pretty fancy medical equipment which they use during heart surgery.) Anyway, I guess what I am saying is that I beleive your soul is in your heart. God looks at peoples hearts. Not a persons mind, but at a persons heart. If more people t hought with their hearts and not with their minds then I think the world would be a better place.

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer the question.
I beleive this being probably has two souls, one for each child.
Even if it identicle siamese twins, and therefore is two people. As these people get older, if they are aloud to grow older then I beleive they will have two different personalities, and two different conscience.
Anyway, I guess on the other hand it is an intersting thought t hat many identicle twins claim they know each other so well they know what the other is thinking before they say, and know what they will say, and different things of the sort. Makes you wonder if two babies who are from one embryo which splits, if when the embryo splits the soul splits as well and they each get a little portion of it. Seperate but very much part of each other. Hmmmmm....
My thoughts on this could get quite complicated. So I will go.

People have been getting heart transplants since the late 1960's. If the soul goes with the heart, do we have people walking around with other people's souls. FYI there are about 2,200 a year in the US alone. So the person in the photo, from your point of view, has a single soul? But what if you have been given a heart from a criminal?

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer the question. I beleive this being probably has two souls, one for each child. Even though you just stated above that the soul went with the heart? So the soul is tied to the mind? All soundly disproved in any controlled study. It looks like the photo above is the result of an incomplete split embryo. This is not uncommon. Especially if you tie the soul to the heart and the mind.
