Early Irish workers rebelled against denominational Christianity. Plain and simple. They felt church buildings, married and settled clergy, collection plate and other aspects of mainstream Christianity were of the devil. So they decided to change things. Then they told folks THEY were the true way of God and other ways were evil.

The first members of my family to convert to "2x2ism" were rebels also. That was three generations back. The family was already Christian, and attending the Lutheran Church when the Workers arrived on the scene. Only my grandfather, out of ten siblings, left the Church they were born into, and "professed" in the Worker's Way.
Grandfather's children, (four) all remained members in good standing in the "2x2 way". Out of my siblings, two rebelled and left the F&Ws, and one is still a professing member.
So, a few generations back, it was rebellious to join the F&Ws, and now it's rebellious to leave!
The Revolution becomes the Establishment. No getting around that fact of life.

Did God consider them rebels? Who really knows? God ain't saying, and we'd just be guessing. My guess is every bit as good as yours, although it may (or may not) be different.

My guess is every bit as good as yours, may be different. There is a difference in some guesses, some are educated 'guesses'. So to say ''all guesses'' are the same probability is an erroneous assumption.

He already has, in the life of His Son Jesus didn't go with established religion of His day, so they considered Him a rebel. it is so simple, man does not like the way of God, so has set about to create his own version of God and way.

Thanks for spelling that out for us. since I figured out the answer to a question does not mean there is something wrong with the answer if I say that the moon is 290,000 miles from the earth Just the fact is, if it is true, does that mean that I created the distance? ? The distance is there, whether I know it or not. God's way is alive, whether you believe it or not. It is NOT Irvines way, he never wrote the bible.

Remember, William Irvine DID NOT start the "living witness" doctrine. That came in round about 1928, long after Billy Boy had been ex-communicated, nor did he start the "dividing up into fields" practice. The introduction of those things resulted in Edward Cooney being ex-commed because he rejected them, again after Billy Boy was away !

Thanks for spelling that out for us. william irvine created nothing he only went out preaching the Gospel as Jesus has asked His to do, and encouraged others to do the same, which they did do. if you consider that to be rebellion against established religion, well that's how you should see it can you please show where what william did is his own version compared to the Apostles?

The LWD of the F&W is that the living word can only be heard from a living witness which is regarded as being only one of their workers. No other preacher can be a "living witness" since they are regarded as not living out the word and therefore they do not have a living testimony. Yes you couls say they would regard you as being right in that other preachers are dead witnesses and therefore preach a dead witness doctrine.
