We need some new threads on this board, so I'm going to try to think of some. As I'm about ready to go sit down and finish a book, this one came to mind first.... Name some of your favorite authors and/or reads here. My favorite romance authors are Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber. For a bit of suspense thrown in, I like Patricia Cornwell. If you can name me some terrific authors who write romance/mystery/suspense combos, I will be very pleased! Thanks! M. OH CRUD. This was supposed to be on the worldly board. Just let it drop down if you will...I will respost it. Thanks, Mich

the 9/11 commission report is awesome. it makes the best fires, excellent for tinder... and truckloads of them make a pretty picture floating in the missouri river..

Do ex-2x2s know how to read?
(Sorry, sorry! I couldn't help myself! I'm being a stirrer. You know I don't mean that... right?)

Name some of your favorite authors and/or reads here. My favorite romance authors are Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber. Romance? Romance! Bah. All that heaving bosom stuff, and perspiration in the darkness. Don't you ever find the romance genre a bit predictable, Michelle? Coincidentally I've been teaching genre writing recently in my English classes. The romance genre - the white-female apparatus of dominance over divergent masculinities and femininities, enforcing a heterosexual uniformity - so obvious, wouldn't you agree? (I jest.) For a bit of suspense thrown in, I like Patricia Cornwell. If you can name me some terrific authors who write romance/mystery/suspense combos, I will be very pleased! Thanks! M.Robin Hood, Biggles and Sherlock Holmes stories have a lot of mystery. I used to like those sorts of stories when I was a kid, although I can still recall the nightmares that reading Sherlock Holmes and The Adventure of the Speckled Band gave me. I loved the myths: the wise prophets and philosophers, and the dashing heros who always upheld justice, and brought the evildoers to a sticky end. And I liked illustrated Bibles too - pictures of Jeremiah the fiery prophet; Moses with his Law; and of course Jesus. I always liked the pictures where Jesus was glorified. Then I got into Star Trek novels. And now I read nothing but non-fiction and research journals. And the Bible. OH CRUD. This was supposed to be on the worldly board. Just let it drop down if you will...I will respost it. Thanks, Mich. We'll let it go. You know we'll give you special treatment!

I LOVE Patricia Cornwell too. I like detective stories; court cases, etc. I read at lunch and on my breaks at work. If I bring a book home, I don't get anything done, so I try not to do that.
Here are some other authors I read: David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, Catherine Coulter, Tami Hoag, Greg Lles, Susan Isaacs, Wm Lashner**, Brad Meltzer, Nancy Taylor Rosenberg, Ann Rule, John Sanderford**, Daniel Silva, Mariah Stewart, Scott Turow**, Pat Conroy
** are favorites.

I don't ever have to wonder...I know it's gonna end well! and just sometimes, "you" wanna read something that you knows gonna have a happy ending! Well, I do anyway. M.
