I wonder if doctors notice that older professing friends won't watch TV from their hospital room? Especially if they are in a private room and they couldn't blame the TV on their roommate. Some professing folks request no TV for their room.

"Some professing folks request no TV for their room. "
And do you object to this?
Would you rather they did something else to please you?

I have no doubt there is some degree of truth in the original post, however, I have known of a number of exceptions from personal experience.
Two instances I will mention, but will leave names out.
One male worker I visited several times whilst he was in hospital. He was in a room of four and on at least two of those occasions he was the only patient in the room. On these occasions I walked in on him watching the TV in the room. This did not concern me as I think I have done the same thing ? (ouch !!)
Anyway, I think this worker trusted me and he continued watching (big deal !). He then stated that he thought the "telephone" was worse than the television ! We hit common ground on that one, but that's another story.
On another occasion I know an elderly sister worker who stayed with a certain female friend who had a TV (it was her non-professing son's tv) and this visit was planned between the two of them so that they could watch Prince Charles and Diana's wedding ceremony together. They were just after a weepy ! I think sherries were crashed as well ? In fact I know they were.
I think it's called "escapism" in the modern world ? Pity these type of things don't happen more often. Life's hard enough as it is, even for Workers.

We had four workers come to our place to watch that wedding... and stayed for dinner. None refused the wine offered.
Its not such a big deal.

I've been hospitalized many times and usually for long periods. I watch TV and do not feel ashamed when the Friends or Workers come to visit. I Just turn it down or off for the visit. Some (most) of the Professing patients were not watching TV when I came to visit them.
To each their own.
I even watched TV a few weeks ago while in a private room in the ER that had Satellite Television. Yeah, I had morphine, too...
I still love Star Trek, even the new ones! I got to see the Johnny Depp pirate movie which I had decided was not worth the price of admission by the teasers on Yahoo. Sorry I missed it on the big screen.
Doctors do notice. I've been hospitalized during some major events (Super Bowl, Indy 500, Playoff Games, etc) and most of the doctors enjoy a moment to keep up with the action while on rounds. Often they will set on the end of the bed and watch for a few minutes before continuing on. I've had doctors request the TV be left on 24/7 to help stimulate me while I was in a medically induced coma. Some of the Friends offered to bring in some tapes of the Hymns but my dad nixed it and he is an Elder! Go figure.
Of course I had no say because I was already in some other place!!!
In 1969 during the Moon landing and Walks, our family had a TV and every professing here family knew. Some other professing families did also. Before the Moon landing the Workers here arranged to be visiting with my parents so they could see history in the making! They watched the first moon Walk with the same fascination that I had. No judgment. No condemnation.
Peace in Him,
SBB

This post is stupid. If someone makes a personal choice not to watch TV, then really what has that got to do with anybody but them. There are hundreds of friends in the truth that do watch TV, and there are even some of the workers who have been known to watch a football game or such at some of the friends homes. If someone feels convicted not to watch TV and bring that garbage into their life's, that is there personal conviction and good for them. TV can be detrimental to some people lives taking up much time that could be used in a better way. It can cause some people to allow things into their lives which they may not want their but are unable to say no to. If someone chooses to watch TV that is their choice. If someone chooses not to watch TV that is their choice. Madonna does not let her kids watch TV or look at magazines. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9720314/Is this a huge issue that should be discussed for hours on end. No it is a personal choice. We all have the freedom of choice. We can choose or not choose to do something. Why is it such a big deal.

My long-time professing dad started dialysis about 2 years ago. 4 hours at a time for 3 nights a week. There are TV's at each dialysis station to keep the patients from getting too bored and thinking about all the needles and tubes.
My parent's had two sister workers over for dinner not too long after my dad started dialysis. One of those sister workers is quite old and one that I would consider "hard core" and not very flexible.
My dad mentioned that he watches a lot of TV now because of his dialysis. That older sister worker said, "I would too, what else are you supposed to do?"

There is much less junk on TV than there is On the internet. Why do the friends use the internet and scorn TV!

Some professing folks request no TV for their room. Are you joking? Doctors are busy , and if they did notice there was no t.v. , they wouldn't think a thing of it....that's just my opinion , but I am a Dr., so take it for what it's worth!

There are hundreds of friends in the truth that do watch TV, *** And they don't live in the following US states: Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa, rural Wisconsin etc.. West of the Rockies, they probably do. East of the US Rocky Mountains is a different story. The British Isles is another story as well. It is a regional thing so please don't pretend to know all the customs and traditions in the lowly way.
As for Bryan, he isn't worth responding to as he only hurls insults and offers little substance.

they never said it was "important", and they were not starting a whole tv debate... they just wondered if doctors noticed, and posted their thoughts here, and it is an interesting thought, i wonder if any doctor ever noticed..i doubt it, as many people don't want the tv on, professing or not.... you started the attitude here by saying,"don't you have anything better to do with your time ?"... just like you started on me the other day.... you are not happy bryan.... whats wrong? better figure out how to get yourself happy, like i am trying to do for myself...i have no energy for anything when i am sad...
