Could someone please tell me politely and not too graphically what legally makes someone a pedophile and what legally is child molestation? I don't want to google it because I don't know what will come up on the computer and I don't want that sort of stuff in the computer's history. I understand any touching of the child's "private" areas. But what about kissing, hugging, cuddling, hand-holding etc. This probably isn't molestation but I am thinking that children can be "abused" in this way without it legally being an issue. I know someone who was involved with a worker in this way when she was 13/14. He was twice her age. She never felt like a victim because she really liked him and thought they were in love and might get married some day. (!!) Now, 13 seems so young and she really wonders about this sometimes. She can not believe they were never caught. I want to warn parents that things can happen right at the kitchen supper table or while playing board games, on walks, anywhere really. Also in the night he would come by her room - she remembers being so sleep deprived and tired sometimes that she could almost fall asleep. But it wasn't really that sexual or probably illegal - just that he was a worker. What do you think- was it wrong legally or just because he was a worker? Saddly, you can't be too careful of anyone or trust anyone and your children.

I dont think the situation you describes sounds like it was child molestation, but maybe the older person involved was obvously being in=appropriate give the large age difference between the two people.
Normally the definition of this involves touching or fondling of private body parts such as genitals, or using the child for their own pleasure, such as exposure, fondling.
However two younger people who hold hands but are not sexually involved, would not fall under the scope of a child molester, perhaps just inappropriate.
But I am not sure, I am not a professional in this way, just my basic understanding and I am a 36 yr old mom.

Child molester" is defined as "a rapist who preys on children." Rape is evil, regardless of what age the victim and perpetrator are.
"Pedophile" is defined based on its roots: "pedo" means "child" and "phile" means lover. Most child molesters are NOT true pedophiles. However any pedophile who calls himself a child lover, is nothing more than a pedophile under the disguise of "I am safe". It is a lie and far from a honest true love for a child.
Yes... Pedophiles do not force sexual activity but they do encourage it. Just because the above mentioned relationship was not sexual does not mean the worker mentioned was not a pedophile.
Remember Michael Jackson vehemently denied all the charges against him, while still insisting that he saw nothing wrong in sharing his bed with a child. Jackson also said he would rather slit his own wrists than harm a child. He actually believed that he was doing good for the child. This is a true pedophile.
Actually triptorelin has been used.... with a great deal of success.
"There are a huge number of offenders that can be controlled, but it takes years of intensive work. Part of the treatment is that they never place themselves among children, and they have a sponsor to talk with. It’s like an addict struggling to get sober. The best prevention is to identify addicts and get them into treatment while they are young.
Offenders can seek counseling on their own, but once they admit to committing an offense against a child, doctors are compelled to report the incident to authorities. Therefore, the offenders who sincerely want treatment and help cannot get it unless they’re ready to accept a long-term prison sentence."

Pedophile is someone who has a strong sexual attraction to young children. These children are often aged from baby hood to about 12 years of age (but may be older). A pedophile is a physiological condition in the brain that makes them attracted to young children, and is often difficult to change.
A pedophile may not be a molester. Though if a pedophile were to carry out his deranged fantasies on a child, then he would be considered a child molester.
Likewise, a child molester does not necessarily have to be a pedophile. I suppose someone who does not have the chemical imbalance in their brain could go to molest children out of pure wickedness.
