Is there such a thing as a family tree of Christian denominations?
The whole idea that it doesn't look like this......
Jesus --> Truth --> <<everything else>>
...... is new to me as I figured the so-called Truth is actually down the line a ways.
Anyway, I'd like to see something that could give me a representation of the mess that has become of Christian denominationalism.

Well Truth isn't down at the trunk of the tree but it's higher on the trunk. It sure ain't a branch like all your commercial open-for-business-sermons-for-sale churches out there.

A question: Imagine someone came down from Mars. They read the New Testament and respected it for what it is - a model on how to live. Where would you fit them on a Christian family tree?

For one thing Bert a denomination says we ain't the only way a small part of a much larger body...any group putting claims to this has to agree with such.. Now the two by twos dechristianized all others what are they saying Bert?Are they exclusive Gods only way?

Suppose someone came down from Mars and read the history of Henry Ford, and decided to build cars on an assembly line. Would the cars be Fords? Why not? They'd be made just like Henry said they ought to be built; on an assembly line! Must be Fords..... Well, OK, COUNTERFEIT Fords...

Are you saying all churches are counterfeit? Consider, a church "proves" a pedigree to "Saint Peter" but clearly, would not have been recognizable to Peter. Is this a counterfeit church?

They wouldn't fit on the Christian family tree at all because they would just be imitators of Christianity, not of God's family. The only way we can be in God's family is through birth. Through spiritual birth, which comes about by the work of the Trinity and being given the faith to believe God's Gospel and no other. Trying to live right will never get anyone to heaven. If they had never heard, understood and believed the true Gospel they would be as lost as any other imitator. Counterfeit Christianity abounds.
If you believe the NT is only a model on how to live then you are also sadly deceived Bert.

You didn't answer the question. ..methinks she did answer the question!!. ..and that WOULD explain SO many things!. ..why the 2x2 message of works is as east is from west, compared to the Gospel message of Grace....the martian translation musta been a little off!
