Wondering about the verse in John 1. hmmmm It says that the word was God. Then the word became Jesus. What is it about words that either help us to understand something better, or we get all confuuzed .

from Into The Mystery ..............................................
Truer words were never spoken You picked them up when you were young Maybe woven in a story That goes back to where you're from Truer words were never spoken And for an audience of one But where you're healed is where you're broken And God knows your native tongue
So build a bridge with what's behind you The scattered pieces of your past Build it out over the chasm To the promised land at last Start a bridge with what's behind you And God picks up where you've begun 'Cause where you look is where Love finds you And God knows your native tongue
Spoken words in Aramaic Sounds I wouldn't understand In a local ancient dialect For the people of that land
No little words can hold a candle To the splendor of the sun That can explain this world of wonder And shine the same on everyone But little words can hold a candle All your own when darkness comes They're just the size for us to handle And God knows your native tongue

The Word is the fourth element of the pantheon of heaven. Here are a few of the terms:
Father = moninity Father and the Son = biinity Father, Son and Holy Ghost = Trinity Father, Son, Holy Ghost and The Word = Quadinity Father, Son, Holy Ghost, The Word and the Blood = Pentinity Father, Son, Holy Ghost, The Word, the Blood and the Water = Hexinity Father, Son, Holy Ghost, The Word, the Blood, the Water and God's servants = Heptatinity
Some people love all this! Meanwhile, the rest of us just get on with our lives.

Well, I do sympathize with people's ignorance of the scripture, but I think the wordplay is neat!

To Bert Do you believe Jesus is God Almighty I am trying to figure out why God said that He was only 1. Shouldn't He have said He was 3 ? Is the trinity 3 or 1, or do we have a choice, here? I think I should tell people that I am only one, before people think I am two. If George Washington was the President (or word) now George Bush is the President (or word). THEREFORE George Washington must be George Bush, since they were both President (or words). Does that make any sense. ? Of course not, and neither does the explaination of the trinitarians that Since God was the word, and now Jesus is the word, then Jesus is God... Actually I believe it fully shows they are 2 different yet one is the Heir(son) of the other who was the first 'word' .... And later in this chapter, John sees Jesus and proclaims, 'Behold the Lamb of God' ...This did not mean that Jesus was God either, infact it says He is the Sacrifice sent by Heaven and God, for our sakes.

Simple question - Is Jesus God?
We know he is the First and Last We know he is the Creator We know he is the Judge We know he is the Rock We know he is the IAM We know he is King We know he is the light We know he is the Savior We know he is the Shepard
Just as we know YAHWEH is the first and last, creator, judge, rock, IAM, king, light, savior, shepherd...
We also know Jesus was called God by the Father, Isaiah, and by Thomas... And that he was prayed to and worshiped in the New Testament when Jesus said only to pray and worship God...
So let me ask again - Is Jesus God?

YES!! YES!! YES!!..... but don't tell Bert. He is an nonbeliever. There is too much scripture to not believe that Jesus is God. Therefore the workers are nonbelievers too.. i know this will stir up the hornets nest...but it is too important to ignore.

Exactly watcher, This is very important to the believing Christian... the whole aspect of Jesus being God, the one we worship, the one who gets all the glory, the Jesus in the Bible who is referred to as God and the Son of God (meaning the same thing; when Jesus referred to him as the Son of God, meaning He came from God, came from heaven)...for which reason the Jews accused Jesus of blasphemy because He claimed to be God (aka the Son of God) and nailed him to the cross. If 2x2's don't acknowledge Jesus as God, they are basically saying that they believe the Bible is full of errors and cannot be trusted as the Truth of God. To also hold a believe that they are the only "Truth" is blaspheming God. How do you spell "Heresy"? Please...people...including those questioning and seeking 2x2s on this board...listen to some sound doctrine sermons, messages from the Holy Spirit spoken by regular people, using the same Bible (possibly other translations for clarity and understanding). My favorites are The Way of the Master Radio, Alistair Begg's Truth for Life, Renewing Your Mind with R.C. Sproul (Ligonier Ministries), Love Worth Finding by Adrian Rogers, and Insight for Living by Chuck Swindoll. Because the term "Son of God" means Jesus was from heaven, therefore as God is in heaven, Jesus came from heaven, He was the God who came down to earth, the proclaimed Messiah, The Holy One of Israel, The Almighty.
Contemporary English Version (CEV): Mar 14:61 But Jesus kept quiet and did not say a word. The high priest asked him another question, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the glorious God?" Mar 14:62 "Yes, I am!" Jesus answered. "Soon you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right side of God All-Powerful, and coming with the clouds of heaven." Mar 14:63 At once the high priest ripped his robe apart and shouted, "Why do we need more witnesses? Mar 14:64 You heard him claim to be God! What is your decision?" They all agreed that he should be put to death.
King James Version: 2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 2Co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
