They don't believe that Jesus can make them right with God. They depend on being right because they believe in make-belief apostles special revelation to one "WIlliam Irvine" chatting about workers Sad, sad, sad. I talked with my dad, HAPPPY BDAY DAD! over supper. We enjoyed music. I tapped my feet to the music. Ordered some guacamole and they did a song and dance with it. I told my dad that I'm so glad he got out of the cult too. and that I really enjoyed finally being able to enjoy life. We work and enjoy it. This is God's gift to man. We ought to take what God has given us and thank Him for it. Praise God that I can enjoy God's gift by reading Bible and ignoring two-faced workers. Praise God for being able to rejoice in God. Brad

I have to agree with that. My dad stopped going to meetings over 6 yrs ago or so. Now he calls me and has a glass of red wine.. Its nice, he is able to say he loves me, and share information and let his hair down. He often says, what will we really know until we get to the other side? Unfortnetly he has not found another church to join, he is still probably not ready to join anything after about 25 or so yrs in the truth.
But he seems more relaxed and happy and he smiles more. I dont know his heart, but I am glad you and your dad have good times.

I didn't repent because I didn't think I was a sinner. I thought I was a human who sinned, occassionally. It never occurred to me that I was a sinner, period.

You write as if 2x2s don't drink wine. What rubbish. Its a common drink.

We have good times; we visit easily and drink wine together; we watch movies together - he enjoys some of the same films I do. In fact, we went to see Star Wars Episode III and Harry Potter #5 in theaters. Except there's one difference. Dad has never stopped going to meetings. I'm certainly glad for all the good times parents and children can have together. However, it would be highly erroneous to insinuate that such things are generally an impossibility for people who go to meetings.

IMO if anyone does not believe that they are saved by the blood of the cross, then they are denying Christ. Period.

When I have talked to a friend who happens to be a 2x2, about some sin I have committed, her response is simply "We are all human". I have never heard her call a sin a sin! It's just being human!

I am reminded of the lyrics in a song:
"O to grace how great a debtor Daily I’m constrained to be! Let thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wandering heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love; Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for thy courts above. "
I'm a sinner, therefore.. I'm pretty darn prone to sin. Therefore, I need God to "seal" my heart, to put on that protective coat that would focus my life on Him.
Previously (when I was a 2x2), I ached to be perfect, but.. shucks, I just kept sinning (but me? a sinner? no way!). Each night I'd mentally beat myself up for not living up to my expectations of what I should be before God.
What a burden to live with.
