Workers talk about keeping the spirit.
Are they acknowledging that they are led by a spirit?
I talked with Steve Watts and Jeremy Gibson and they said they were led by a spirit to not do what the Bible said to do.
Is it appropriate for workers to acknowledge this spirit that causes them to disobey God?

Today, my cousin told me he hoped he would see me at McCordsville Convention. I told him I would be there with "rings on my fingers and bells on my toes..." He replied back to me that he looked forward to seeing me with rings, bells and a right sprirt.
HHMMM...............

Did he mean right according to him or the right spirit that God renews in us? Questions I would've asked him: Do you have a right spirit? How do you know? Can you prove it? Do you think I have a right spirit? Why or why not? Who taught you about this spirit? When did you get this spirit? Does this spirit lead you around? Does this spirit encourage you to obey the scripture? etc Give 'em heaven Sophie Brad

I wonder if they mean by the right spirit, like the right attitude towards the church? I am not sure, I have heard this alot. I always thought it meant to come to meeting with an obedient and willingly type of attitude or frame of mind? to be open to what God has to say, not defiant?

Can it be safe to say...
Any spirit which teaches us to do contrary to the infallible word of god which is given to us in the Bible is NOT THE RIGHT SPIRIT.
If someone said to me, oh the spirit told us not to do that which is written in the bible... I WOULD POST HASTE.
A similar think happened to my father. He had some questions, and brought up scripture. At which point the two sister workers who he was speaking to simply and boldly told him... "We do not believe in these things" Which were VERY SIMPLE AND BASED ON SCRIPTURE...

I remember always praying to be willing. I honestly think its taken out of context and people assume. Now I would think 'the right spirit ' means a spirit of love/joy/hope/peace?
HEllo what spirit.. Yes, They could mean if you question their doctrine you are operating in a wrong spirit.

Following is the continued conversation I had with my cousin regarding bringing a right spirit to convention:
me: "I couldn't imagine bringing a wrong spirit to convention." him: "Its not hard for me to have a wrong one." me: "Why? Recently, I've accepted an understanding that it is completly counterproductive to our spirit to have feelings of unworthiness. The grace of God is an all powerful and wonderful gift, that I have found such freedom in accepting. My desire to be close to God, and study his word, is off the charts compared to how I've ever felt in the past because of it." him: "Why?? I'm human. You lost me. What do you mean counterproductive to our spirit. What kind of understanding would that be? I think a misunderstanding would be counterproductive. Explain!"
I went on to explain that to berate myself for mistakes, failures, etc.. was counterproductive. I am rejoicing in the gift of grace from God and his unconditional love.......etc
Hopefully, I'll hear back from him soon.

I will not even get started on this one. Just to say I felt I was being judged and I was....my spirit was not right. I couldn't get a straight answer to my questions, because my spirit was not right. Believe me, my question were very sincere. I shed tears many times because I was told my spirit just was not right.

I never questioned workers or other friends, I just watched quietly and very closely. But I questioned God directly through prayer and I was led out faster than anything. The scales were taken off my eyes.

WOAE,
Yes, I strongly believe only God has the answers, but it still helps to speak to others and read about others experiences like we do here.

When Christ has loved us so, and gave His life in a finished work to cover our sin (later in the resurrection, to remove our sin), how can we be unworthy and hanging our heads?! Realizing His grace causes us to lift our faces heavenward and breathe in "celestial air"! Best! Edy

And by the way, my cousin's response was in complete agreement with me. We are on the same page afterall and that is a good thing!
Take care.......Sophie
