For those of you who may not have heard. Charles went into the hospital early yesterday morning because he was coughing up blood. He was in the ER most of the day, then moved into ICU. They had given him plateletes while in the ER, then again after he was in ICU.
Here is the latest as of 6:30PM Tue. evening
This morning a procedure was done to clear the lungs. About 11:00 they put a breathing tube in for 2 - 3 days or until his oxygen level is normal. They had him sedated as it was very uncomfortable for him. They have continued to give him platelets and blood throughtout the day as he has needed them. His blood level is very low yet and platelete count continues to drop. When he is awake he is alert and able to write because with the tube he can't talk. As yet, it is not know as to why there is loss of blood.
The Dr. said at this point his condition is very guarded. The Dr. looks at his patients at a 3 day interval before he knows the true condition.
We now wait to see how things will go from this point and as we know more, word will be sent VIA email.
Second email:
Unfortunately Charles fell out of bed this morning which was a surprise to the nurses. No one was in the room nor no one saw him fall. Because he was restful and not anxious they were shocked that he tried to get out of bed. He didn't disturb any of the tubes or IV's. He does not remember that he fell. He has a cut on the top of his head and they put a few staples in. They took him for a CT to make sure there was no damage done. Those test came back negative. He is bruised on his nose and left side of the face. They kept him sedated all day except to bring him conscience every few hours. Late afternoon the Dr. said there was no concussion. When he was aroused he did know us and do everything the nurse and Dr. asked him to do. He is still getting blood and the plateletes were holding even though the count is still low. There is no conclussion to the cause of his condition as of yet.
We will keep you updated and thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
