Some think it is hypocritical to attend a convention just to see friends or family when your heart isn't into following the worker's preaching. I don't see it that way. For one thing, I think the workers need someone reporting on any strange doctrine that might be presented there. Old friends and family are dear to our hearts. Even if some main speakers are a bit senile at times.

At an Olympia convention, years ago, a couple would appear for meals, lunch & dinner, then disappear! I do no recall whether they were staying on site or not.
Needless to say, they were eventually asked to leave, once it became apparent they were there solely for the convention stew!
