write on my heart every word.........
I'm wondering if the exe's on here miss convention times?
And for those of us playing hokey pokey - so to speak.... are we listening at convention differently than before? Are we looking for evidence of brainwashing? Can we ever be the same?
I was at convention this weekend and as for me, everything I heard for the most part was very much about the WAY - lots of talk about Jesus, but ultimately, a justification of why the "truth" is the "truth". John Knochemus at Shoals tells a story of a conversation he and his companion had with a woman in Minnesota.........she was asking questions about their faith. Every question she had, John was able to back it up with an answer from Scripture. At the end of their conversation, the other companion was able to tell the woman (who claimed she was satisified with her current beliefs), that they taught the way as Jesus left on record. This answer so satisfied her that she had a change of heart and professed...........
We heard testimonies of thankfulness for the workers and how much they loved the workers.....
We heard about the convention grounds and what a holy place it is and how prayers had been answered for the continuation of conventions...........
I'm wondering if the workers in fact are aware of how many people may have concerns about all of the people who have left the truth in the past 2 years, WHY is it not being addressed? Are they so arrogant to think that if it is not discussed it will just go away? Are the friends so heartless as to not really care about their brothers and sisters who have left? There are people like me out there, who want to continue to go to meeting but are concerned about Grace, lack of discussion about Jesus, the Trinity, rules, money etc........if these concerns are not addressed, I'll leave..... as well as others.

Did you know that "Tell Me the Story of Jesus" was written by an outsider?

Hi This is a interesting subject Tell me the story of Jesus------ I personally know of two women workers holding a mission in the house of an outsider , And they asked the congregation for a hymn The lady who owned the house picked ( Tell me the story of Jesus ) and the reply from the head worker was we dont tell stories , so the hymn was changed , Now isnt that interesting , maybe the workers knew that it was an outsider hymn !!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I don't miss convention in the least. I started losing interest even before my ex left. I think the turning point for me was the year at McCordsville that Garret Hughes was talking about people wanting to record the mtgs for those who couldn't attend because of health reasons. His explanation for refusing was that the message had NO meaning if one couldn't see the messanger. The message of salvation is void unless it's delivered by a 2x2. That was the beginning of my disllusionment.

I can't believe all the head nodding I did back in "those days" (and I don't mean falling asleep - but I probably would have been better off!) Edy

Hello "we could be singing" I wasn't at Shoals this year. Look me up at McCordsville if you're going to be there in 2 weeks. write on my heart every word......... He listened to all of it at home over a phone line broadcast that had been set-up for many like him who could not attend. There is no way to control whether or not people record it so apparently it isn't that big of an issue.

I don't know...the workers I was raised around didn't seem to have a problem with it. It was sung often at gospel meetings because the little children often knew it by heart, and when they would ask the kids Bible questions before or after the meeting, it would often include a question about this hymn. Still a favorite...probably because of when I was little. M.

That was the beginning of my disllusionment. You know when mom was to feeble to make it to convention I asked if I could record them meetings. I was told "no way". I was told that for one to have the real Gospel they must here it in person from the Workers. It was suggested that I bring mom and put her in a tent where they could run a line for speakers. Huh what. Seems that is the same thing as a recording from my view. Anyway mom could not come because she was to bad physically. She was embarrassed as well with some of here problems - if you know what I mean. So here are these loving people who mom stayed true with all her life and they would not even make concession for her needs. Sad but true.
