Cherie said, "Thank you Edy for posting that. I like that term "spiritual bullying". I hadn't heard it before, but it is very appropriate in some cases.
Also appreciated the info about the addiction. I goggled for more info on this issue and what I found was very interesting. If you have any more details about this trait, I'd like to hear it. Cherie "
Dear Cherie,
I have been scanning over "Toxic Faith" to see if I can find the reference to "spiritual bullying", but I have not found it yet.
I did, however, find the reference to "knowledge addiction".
"Addiction is not merely something the addict does; addiction is a part of the person's character and nature. An inseparable bond forms between the person and the addiction. The bonding grows strong because it has become a form of survival for the addict. The addiction becomes the person, and the person becomes the addiction.
The bond to the addiction must be transferred to other individuals (emphasis mine). If it isn't, the recovering addict will merely intellectualize the problem, and knowledge will easily become the new addiction.
This transfer of addition (to a person, eating, or anything else) is something that I think each of us needs to watch out for after leaving a toxic relationship of any kind.
I will continue to look for the "spiritual bullying".
Best! Edy

Dear Wings, Thanx for posting this! I took an opportunity to listen to this and it was very timely for me. I have such an urge to say, "you just ain't all that" when I hear this kind of bullying! And now I understand that it is modern-day lingo for saying exactly what Job said to his friends! I also had a chance to re-read "Toxic Faith" in the past two days, and my referral to "spiritual bullying", is actually in the book as "Bible Bullying" Best! Edy
