This argument "who is the greatest among us" continues today. The 2x2s contend that they are the only right way and they are not alone in their beliefs ... other churches say the same... this is another form of saying that they are the greatest.... but in fact as Jesus said the least are those who are great. Who are the least among us? This is an important question. Jesus said , "I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me." The least among us are those that have been rejected by the religious man....who is the one that thinks he is right... and he thinks ... no one knows any better than he. These religious men are the ones that put Jesus on the cross.

This argument could work the other way too. Those who are truly God's might see themselves as being the very least.

I guess this is why 2x2s think they need to appear humble all the time.

I believe this to be a profound misapplication of scripture. The whole point of Christ's teaching in this instance has nothing to do with denominational religion. It has nothing to do with those who say they are right and everyone else is wrong (exclusivity being the message of the Apostles, incidentally). Rather, it has everything to do with spiritual awareness of our own tragic need.
When we are truly aware of our "smallness of soul" then we can be made truly great in the eyes of God. Getting trapped into misapplying scripture and wrenching it violently out of its context to make it service some other purpose is not good exegesis!

you think most everything I say is wrong... ;D I am glad you are not God.
It may not apply to any differences over doctrine ... but it sure does apply when you consider the pride individuals have ... when they say we are right because of ______ . This happens quite often within your own group even.... when the upper-class compare themselves to the so called weak or the insiders compare themselves to the outsiders. I remember many looking down their nose at my wife because she looked different... she was not one of them... an outsider.... when Jesus said "I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me." I feel this kind of thing was what he was talking about.
You mean like the 2x2s often do. I have seen it many times.
I still believe the 2x2s feel they are the greatest and no one knows any better than them... GIT you are living proof.
The Church of Christ believers are a close second... they are very proud of what they believe.
Yes they did preach Jesus is the only way to heaven.... I agree. Jesus himself calls all who try to enter the sheepfold by some other way than through him a thief and a robber. Who is the way... JESUS! ... and... Jesus has nothing to do with the set of rules that your group imposes on people.
I find it interesting that when Jesus was with the Samarian woman at the well... She asked a common religious question about where to worship. Jesus said we must worship in spirit and in truth; that's more important than the physical place. We must worship in our heart and do what's right.... strange that meeting in the home was not mentioned.
