-Are most new people aware that the workers will be living with them if they join? -Do you think the workers ever feel uncomfortable living with the friends most of the year? -Do the friends ever rent the workers a place for a week or 2 /year so they can have some truly private time??

Maybe a time or two. - Do the friends ever rent the workers a place for a week or 2 /year so they can have some truly private time?? [/quote]Possibly, as practices vary throughout the church.

Thanks for responding. My spouse is a very private person and has no interest in having overnight company on a regular basis and I gather from here that we would be referred to as a "divided home" which doesn't really appeal to me...so good bye and God bless.

You don't have to invite them. Sometimes people will go out of town and they let the workers stay there while the homeowners are away.

-Are most new people aware that the workers will be living with them if they join? I would not describe the workers saying with you for a few days as "living with them"... Why don't you go ask the workers? Why don't you go ask the workers?

I don't ever remember inviting the workers to stay in our home, but they asked if they could. I thought that's how it was done...they would call and ask. I never said, "No," because I thought it would be a sin to say no to the only true messengers of God. I thought it was expected that I would immediately agree; that any other plans I had would be dropped because of the high priority request.
Now, I understand that I was somewhat deluded in this regard, but I don't think I was the only one who felt that way... was I?

Selah, I don't think "sin" enters the equation. If you can't, then you can't. More to the point, it might be a "sin" for someone to "expect" to have accommodation.

It may have been my own mistaken perception, but didn't others think like that too? Was it just me?
I equated it with "sin," because to knowingly turn away a messenger sent by God seems like a pretty big deal. I felt that God was aware of my schedule, and if He saw fit to send His messengers right then, who was I to argue?

Blessings, Linda Hi Linda You have described very closely how I was raised to see a visit from the workers. In fact I understood it was to be a visit planned by the workers and not "invited" for a particular time by the friends. At convention each year I would extend a blanket invitation to the incoming workers in our field for visit sat their convenience, not mine. It wasn't just you. I followed this unwritten rule too. To not do so was to be sinful because it would have indicated I placed myself before God and His "Servants". RA

Selah, I, too, have felt exactly like yiu because weren't we basically instructed that we were enteraining God's own servants and we never knew that if we were to turn them away, that we might be turning away God himself and not realize it. Don't get me wrong because I have hadmany good times with the workers staying with me but there have also been some weird things along the way - like the worker that just went in and decided to clean out my refirgerator (which was ok with me but strange they did not even ask) and then proceeded to give my kids a rebuking for not keeping the microwave clean and were told they would be checking it the next time they came over. My kids having not been raised around workers were beside themselves.
