And in anticipation of the unavoidable follow-up, the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection is not the Theory of the Origin of Life. It is a theory which explains the vast diversity yet commonalities found in life on our planet. If you are interested in the origin of life (which is really the origin of self replication), you might find Jeremy England's work in energy dissipation over dynamic systems and the ability to generate order at the cost of entropy when stochastic stable conformations of matter are occasionally generated. www.quantamagazine.org/a-new-thermodynamics-theory-of-the-origin-of-life-20140122/

Regardless of how you see evolution, no matter how everything came about I believe it came from God.

The work by Prof. Nick Lane is much more recent. If you are interested: professing.proboards.com/post/1062095/threadThanks for joining the party but maryhig is not really interested in evolution or the origin of life. She just wants attention so she acts like a four-year-old. She likes to play dumb to annoy people. She pokes at people with "innocent" questions. She doesn't care what the topic is. She just wants the attention. Personally, I've gotten very tired of her little game. I didn't post because of maryhig. I posted because of chuck. He wrote "I don't know what, I doubt I ever will." Maybe chuck will care about evolution.

professing.proboards.com/post/1066875/threadAs a species, we very well may be evolving presently. Who would know? It isn't like anything ever live to see what it became a thousand years later. What hasn't evolved over the last few thousand years even?
Of course humans are still evolving. Humans are still making babies in the traditional way. As long as that happens, evolution will still happen. There is no question about it. If you don't believe me that humans are still evolving, go take a genetic genealogy test. Find out who you really are and who your unknown cousins are.

professing.proboards.com/post/1066887/threadEvolution is a continuing process. Not just for animate objects but also inanimate. Conditions of the latter affect the former, the classic example being when an enormous meteorite hit earth and wiped out the dinosaurs. Without that happening there may not be large mammals such as ourselves today. Evolution of inanimate objects can be a confusing idea. It makes sense if you are using the word "evolution" to mean "gradual change over time". By that meaning, you could say the solar system, galaxy, and universe are evolving or changing gradually over time. You could say that cars have evolved a lot in the last 100 years. Some would say that was "intelligent design" by human engineers. It is also selection by market forces. Cars that customers don't buy get dropped from the product line or the company goes out of business.

I don't think they were exported to NZ but they are known here as one of several follies of Mr Ford. That and continuing to supply and build vehicles in Nazi Germany right up until December 1941.

To the best of my knowledge, "evilution" is not a word in the English language. Evolution is the result of the accumulation of mutations. A mutation can happen at any generation. I have seen a mutation happen between a living father and living son on Y-DNA. Count your bridges. They are burning fast.

Never heard of slang or an insult? Anecdotal at best. A mutation is generally a defect/errors and never or rarely breeds forward. Y-DNA testing looks back waaaay waaay back not at your immediate parent. In most cases has no discernable or relevant change. If and when the son sprouts wings we can rediscuss or dogs turn into cats. Might want to cross your own bridge before it collapses under you...

It doesn't jump over them. The Y-DNA is inherited from every single one all the way back to "waaaay waaay back".

Might want to cross your own bridge before it collapses under you... My bridge is growing. It is your bridge that is collapsing. New map captures explosive rise of the nonreligious JAN 26, 2024
onlysky.media/alee/new-map-captures-explosive-rise-of-the-nonreligious/
According to a 2024 Pew survey, the nones have moved into the lead:
When Americans are asked to check a box indicating their religious affiliation, 28% now check ‘none.’
A new study from Pew Research finds that the religiously unaffiliated – a group comprised of atheists, agnostic and those who say their religion is “nothing in particular” – is now the largest cohort in the U.S. They’re more prevalent among American adults than Catholics (23%) or evangelical Protestants (24%).
“Religious ‘Nones’ are now the largest single group in the U.S.” Jason DeRose, NPR, 24 January 2024.
This means that, as ordinary generational turnover proceeds, we have every reason to expect that religion will keep fading away. The regressive, bigoted and anti-democratic political currents that draw their strength from religion, likewise, will continue to weaken and fragment.

A preacher called me an "evilutionist" one. It was such a funny insult I wasn't even offended! 😆 Here's a funny paradox - critics of the fossil record evidence say that there are gaps in the record. Well, every time a fossil is found that is a transition between two forms, two gaps are created by default. Thus, if the criticism is "gaps in the fossil record", the more gaps are filled, the more are created!😄

It's like watching the caged chimpanzees at the zoo fling their poop. It's funny if you are 10 years old. It amuses the chimpanzees and the 10 year old humans. In Egypt’s Sahara Desert, massive skeletons with strange skulls and gigantic teeth jut out from the sandy ground. This fossil graveyard, millions of years old, is known as the “Valley of the Whales.” Now, paleontologists have unearthed a whole new species of ancient whale dating to 43 million years ago, and this predator wasn’t just able to swim – it also had four legs and could walk. Follow scientists as they search for new clues to the winding evolutionary path of mammals that moved from the land into the sea to become the largest animals on Earth.
