Sadly, Scott is not with us anymore. We miss him. This came to my attention today:
1 Thessalonians ch. 4, vv 3-8 (NIV): It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Note particularly, that in "this matter" (sexual immorality):
"no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister".

Worth considering the seriousness of this: "For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit."

These are good letters; however, I think there is a major "splintering' about to happen or the demise of the church. When there is worker worship, no accountability, protecting the institution at the expense of destroying peoples lives, and no clear mission except its own survival, one wonders if the end is near The following comes to mind... 1 Corinthians 11:17 But in the following instructions, I cannot praise you. For it sounds as if more harm than good is done when you meet together. 18 First, I hear that there are divisions among you when you meet as a church, and to some extent I believe it. 19 But, of course, there must be divisions among you so that you who have God’s approval will be recognized!

We would do well to consider what Jesus said about "these little ones".
Some may interpret that to mean those who humble themselves as a little child but either way they have been abused in what should be a fellowship of love...
Matthew 18:6 But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Matthew 18:10 “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.
Matthew 18:14 In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.

Jeremiah 6
16 This is what the Lord says:
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ 17 I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But you said, ‘We will not listen.’ 18 Therefore hear, you nations; you who are witnesses, observe what will happen to them. 19 Hear, you earth: I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my law. 20 What do I care about incense from Sheba or sweet calamus from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please me.”
21 Therefore this is what the Lord says:
“I will put obstacles before this people. Parents and children alike will stumble over them; neighbors and friends will perish.”
Verse 17, the trumpet has been sounding since at least 13 years ago, but wilfully ignored.
I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But you said, ‘We will not listen.’

Rob Newman's (CA Overseer) recent email dated 15th August 2023 is interesting in relation to exclusivity. He writes: "Much of this letter is about unfortunate but very important issues (ie CSA/SA) - but it is important to keep things in perspective. God's way does and will continue, and we we take comfort and trust in the fact that He sees and know everything, and is keeping His trusting little ones" Likewise, Mike Hasset's (Alberta Overseer) recent (appalling) email of 9 August states: "We have just finished a most wonderful convention season. Our Lord has been so good to us. Perhaps some would have felt that there is a 'crisis' in the kingdom but that is not happening. This is God's kingdom and everything is very much under his control". It's very clear from those statements that senior workers absolutely believe that the workers/friends/meeting fellowship, is God's Way and God's Kingdom. If workers are consistent the world over about one thing - it is that they are are God's only true servants on earth and their fellowship/church is God's Way and God's Kingdom on earth That is my experience as well Ross. When I brought up this with a worker about 10 years ago he told me that if they weren’t the only true servants/preachers and this wasn’t the only right way then his life has been wasted. I felt immense sadness at that time as he did not want to discuss it further. It seems ancient history is repeating itself, in our "very advanced" world today. Summary of Jeremiah: The book of Jeremiah (prophet who condemned Judah’s infidelity to God, warned of Babylonian conquest, and promised a new covenant) is the longest book in the Bible (in terms of words and verses), and it is certainly one of the most complex. Jeremiah is a prophetic book that reports the ministry of the prophet Jeremiah to the people of Israel both before (primarily) and after the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians in 587 B.C.E. The preaching of Jeremiah speaks sharp words of indictment and judgment to an idolatrous people. Initially Jeremiah speaks in the hope that they will turn from their wicked ways, but in the wake of a lack of repentance the prophet portrays an inevitable judgment. Jeremiah also speaks words of hope, but recognizes that such a hopeful future will be realized only on the far side of the fall of Jerusalem. The book, however, is concerned not only to report the prophet’s preaching, but also to speak a word of God to a people that has already experienced horrendous hardships in the fall of Jerusalem. Jeremiah 6:14-15 They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,” says the Lord. Peace, peace is a wonderful message to bring, and one that most people want to hear. The problem is that sometimes it isn’t true. Sometimes there is war and conflict that we must deal with, whether we would like to or not. Most significantly, there are times when God’s word to His people is not peace, but “repent” and “prepare for judgment.”

Micah 3:5 This is what the LORD says: “You false prophets are leading my people astray! You promise peace for those who give you food, but you declare war on those who refuse to feed you."
Actually, read the whole of Micah 3.

You can't keep the peace
When a serious problem arises, you can't blow it off or hide the obvious;
And I'm guessing you won't hear that verse in 1 Thessalonians 4 quoted at any conventions this year?
