Williams Special Meeting Gems 2005
Proverbs. 24.30 "I went by the field and saw...' - what do others see or gather from our lives. What about Jesus as He passed by our 'field' – is there anything that would gladden His heart? Is there neglect - broken down walls, nettles, etc. Neglect - the silent message is - "I don't care enough for you". We wouldn't say that out loud, but that is what we are saying when we neglect God. On our knees, we have an advantage - we're better able to lever out the weeds.
The wall around the field - is the boundary of ownership. This land (our hearts and lives) belongs to God. Judas kissed Jesus and called Him 'Master' - but the land (his heart) did not belong to God.
Matt. 5:1 - Mountain experiences - to get to Jesus, the disciples had to go up the mountain. We need to focus on Jesus, not focus on the mountain.
When Saul was throwing the javelin at David, he didn't just sit there and say, "Poor me" - he did something about it - he avoided out of Saul's presence. Saul was fearful because God was with David & not with him. David had a faithful, loyal friend in Jonathon, and above all that, they had God.
Hannah took it to God, but she also knew she had the love & support of her husband. The devil doesn't want to see happy husbands and wives, families, etc.
Nothing in the way of the message will be helpful if it doesn't get passed on with deep assurance (as Paul said in his letter to Timothy).
An old saying - "Fitting it on" (meaning, 'putting it on') - aim to be the real thing - have unfeigned faith. If it is put on, we will come to a stumbling block one day & it'll get the better of us & will show what is really in us.
All Jesus saw from the mountain, that the devil showed to him - he got Him to look down, and all he saw was all he'd one day have to leave behind. When Jesus took John up the mountain, He got him to look up - and he saw all there is to live for.
God doesn't intend the first inspiration/invitation (from Him), will carry us through, but those who partake freely (daily) of the water of life.
The length of our journey rests with God, but the depth we drink from rests with us.
We should love the things God loves, and hate the things God hates.
We need a 'fine-tuned understanding' of the Way of God. The woman who anointed Jesus had that, that even the disciples didn't have (at this stage). Jesus would have felt, 'I want to go all the way - this woman is trusting in me.'
Hannah had a fine-tuned understanding - even more than her husband. That mother saw things wrong in the ministry that she knew wasn't right (Eli's sons doing the wrong thing), that moved her to do what she did. She had a clear, discerning, single eye. We pray for mothers and fathers like Hannah. She had a wonderful song - not a song of mourning or mention of sacrifice. She knew that the Lord would keep him, even though Eli's sons' influence would be wretched.
David (as a youth, the battle with Goliath), came to a defeated army. Jesse was moved to send David, "Look how thy brethren fare." Maybe Jesse had heard some rumours & maybe he saw something in his youngest son that the older ones in all their bravery didn't have? Goliath - 9 ft tall, had every confidence in himself - worshipping the creature & that was what he was trusting in. David's response was one of 'fine-tuned understanding'. David was seeing the Creator and trusting in Him - and loving and serving Him. We can trust Him implicitly in every battle.
When we want to stand out, when different is right, (we'll be treated like David's brother treated him, at this time). His brother's own cause was his own hide - he ran from Goliath - all he did was show what was in his heart (towards David, by saying what he said to him). David's answer, "Is there not a cause?" - not a purpose, in my coming? He was able to give testimony of the Lord, not of himself. That's what we need, to face up to the enemy. David was the most powerful man on earth that day, because he had God with him. God had his hand on his shoulder, (as it were), as David ran to meet Goliath, directing the stone.
David's brothers saw the enemy and ran, David saw an opportunity to prove God's power
Almonte – 2005
Don't know what to do? Wait. How long? Until you see Jesus.
Allow God to choose our destiny: the time and place.
Jesus foot prints are close enough for us to follow if we are willing.
God has already set the way.
A child lives for today. Jesus lived for today. Live in the “now.”
God wants to help us with our direction.
If we know where home is, we will never be lost. God wants to give us a
little glimpse of home.
When coming to God, don't come to him with instruction, but just report for
duty.
God's people are bound together, hang together.
Death comes with independence.
If something takes away our peace, stop doing it.
Careless freedom leads to bondage.
A person that takes a city conquers others; a person that takes control of
his spirit, conquers his spirit.
The world substitutes quantity for quality. God is interested in quality,
not quantity.
Lusts drown men in perdition.
In a storm? Cry to the one that is greater than the storm.
Never want to underestimate the sorrow that we bring to others through our
unwillingness.
No modern transportation on heavenly journey; must walk where others have
walked.
Boundaries and nationalities mean nothing to the children of God.
Men and women rise to fall. Jesus' work was to bring people down to raise
them up again.
We receive the most help when we feel our need the most.
God has the best bread; must keep begging and asking.
Lepers came to Jesus, not because they were worthy, good, but because they
were needy.
Get into position to pray earnestly. Routine prayer will cause us to fall on
a routine day.
Taking backward steps brings regret. Forward steps mean salvation.
God moves heaven and earth to help people.
God is not looking for perfection, but affection.
What God did with a little bit of earth during the creation, he would like
to do with our little bit of earth.
There cannot be a creation without a Creator. There cannot be a redemption
without a Redeemer. There cannot be salvation without a Saviour.
A creation starts with nothing. God can do much with our nothingness.
Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people.
The greatest creative force is when God speaks.
Man works from morning to evening. God works from evening to morning,
towards the light.
God's people live on a higher level than the people of the world.
Birds can fly because there is life. Life enables us to soar above the
gravity of this earth.
God created man out of the same earth he created the beasts. The body goes
back to the dust whether man or beast.
God created man with a mind to know; a will to choose; a heart to love. A
mind to know him; a will to choose him; a heart to love him. He didn't
create robots.
Man was fearfully and wonderfully made. Fearfully - great potential to do
evil; Wonderfully - great potential to do good and please him.
The seventh day – no evening or morning; an all-day. Speaks of an eternal
day. He rested because he was satisfied. When we enter eternity the work
must be done.
Saintsee rather than sightsee.
Jesus was firm in purpose, unwavering in temptation.
Jesus was steady in love, prayer, waiting, dying.
All of us have the privilege of bearing a message of hope to others.
Faithfulness in that refreshes the heart of God. Lives speak a message
sometimes that words do not.
Sometimes we dwell on what we don't have. Focus on the things we do have. We
have a Redeemer, a Saviour, a Friend, peace, joy.
Our daily walk and words and actions affects the heart of God.
God never created anything through panic or fear. He had a plan.
Jesus' feet were torn on the same road that we stumble on.
Desire to be the last, the least and the lowest.
The first thing we should do is to let God's music into our hearts, not when
things are in a mess.
Judas knew the place of prayer, but not the power of prayer.
We have a God that is a master who can do the impossible.
As long as we leave our lives in God's hands, he will perfect us.
Why be perfect? Going to a place of perfection.
Let us go on to perfection; one step at a time.
God has all the time in the world for us.
Often the solution to problems is found in having the spirit of a child.
Kingdoms of this world are made up of big people. The kingdom of Heaven is
made up of people that have humbled themselves to be like a child.
Anyone can be a little child.
A child has no past, but a great future.
The invitation into the kingdom of Heaven is to children only. Big people
spoil it.
Government doesn't like dependents, but God likes dependents.
A child learns to walk by getting up again and again. They walk before they
talk. Walking is more important than talking.
Our walk shows people the direction we are going.
A child doesn't explain, preach a sermon, but is the expression of their
heart.
Big people do not get an understanding of God's way. As long as we keep a
babe's spirit, we get a revelation.
A child looks up at people. A big person looks down on people.
As long as we are little, we'll always be growing.
Jesus' roots are not in this world, but in heaven.
We can age, but age isn't growth.
Signs of growth: easier to be corrected, offended less, taking our own way
less, thinking of others, looking at the big picture more.
Envy: a feeling we have when someone has something more than we do and we
hate them for it.
Evil speaking: making ourselves better by putting someone else down.
The Lord is not looking for ability but willingness, faithfulness.
There is no lasting pleasure in this life unless God is in our lives.
A broken heart says I'm sorry. A contrite heart leaves the sin behind.
What God is offering is not just for the next life, but for this life too.
Can identify people by their accent. Jesus' accent can be seen in his people
here.
We have the ministry of reconciliation and the word of reconciliation.
We no longer bring animals to the altar, but bring spiritual offerings to
God.
It is not the size nor the number of sacrifices that make a difference with
God but the spirit. God sees the motive. Jesus calls it a gift to God, a
token of our appreciation and love.
Communicate: share with others.
When our service is to others, as is done to Jesus, it is an acceptable
sacrifice.
Communion another word for fellowship. Deepest fellowship was to be around
the cup and bread.
God units his people through blessing not fear.
He forgives and forgives. Cleansing goes around the room. If we haven't
sinned that week, don't take the cup. The cup is for repentant sinners.
We're products of mercy.
Abraham looked at the same stars we see; we are part of his descendants by
faith.
Jesus died for all the sins that were ever committed; died in the worst way
for the worst criminals.
God has given us a place as it has pleased him. He expects us to work
together.
Sometimes we get weary. Don't faint along the way; be doers not hearers
only.
Yearly feasting will not sustain us, but daily feeding.
We can advertise anything by word in print but it is another thing to
demonstrate. To demonstrate we must have the goods.
If we give less than our heart, then we are not worthy of what God wants to
give us.
God has given us a gift in our heart. If we give our heart to something
else, it is insulting to God.
Is my attitude my strength or weakness?
A contribution doesn't involve love.
When the woman taken in adultery was brought to Jesus, he didn't speak about
sin, but hope.
Love dignifies service.
What God has given us is not a play thing. It has come from his heart.
If we give him our heart, he will do the work, the fixing.
God keeps the seed of the kingdom to himself. We have to go to the source
every time we want some of it.
It is our responsibility were we let the seed fall in our hearts.
One of the purposes of the gospel is to let God know where we stand.
Devil is planting his seed. God is planting his seed. Someday there will be
a separation. Not one tare will be gathered in. Not one wheat will be
missed.
God marks his people to preserve them; invisible but felt. The mark of God
starts in our minds, hearts. We pray that he makes his mark on us very real,
deep. He will teach us and show us what to do to keep us safe.
The longer the Lord tarries, the longer his people can openly declare his
wonders done in their lives.
Christ on the cross: in the sight of men, the greatest defeat. In the sight
of God, the greatest victory.
Christ came to give us a greater place in glory.
We count years. Moses asked to number our days. Jesus numbered hours. Every
hour we can have fresh dedication, cleansing, consecration.
Every day affords us the privilege of getting to know our God better: his
likes and dislikes.
To glorify is to show greatness. Christ gave men the greatness of God.
Everything Jesus talked about, he lived it out, so we could see it.
When people looked at Jesus, they could see God; would see the greatness and
glory of God. Our desire is that when men look at us, that they see a
perfectly accurate picture of God.
Fun: something of the flesh. Joy is deep; often comes from denying the
flesh. It is not what we get out of it, but what we put into it that brings
joy. Want happiness? Give the Lord more.
Religion divides. There cannot be unity where this is friction and
reservations.
If we are in tune with God, we will be in harmony with one another.
It takes faith to believe in the Virgin Mary. It doesn't take faith to see
unity amongst his people.
Divine love operating in us will accomplish something no other thing can do.
Keep on repenting. Keep on fighting.
If we apply what we have heard, we will manifest the fruits of the spirit
and it will bring joy to him.
Defeat is only a temporary condition.
Not a powerful light, but a steady light. This is what God wants us to be in
the world.

He who plants kindness gathers love.
I have a fear in my heart I might forsake the altars I have built in my life and there would be no sacrifice on them.
The fowls do not lift all of the sacrifice at once, but take a little here and a little there until the sacrifice is marred and not what it should be.
Our lives must be tried by fire. Fire warms, fire destroys. We would like the warmth of the fire of the love of God, but are we willing for the destroying fire that would burn out the dross in our lives?
Quitters never win and the winners never quit.

Give the morning to God, then it is easier to give the rest of the day to God.
