Help them in which way? Do their preaching for them? At convention preps? Explain yourself.

sounds to me like he/she meant bringing things (baked, etc....food) or cooking, waiting tables, cleaning up and any other odd jobs...but who knows. I could be wrong. Whatever he/she meant...I think I got plenty out of the ones I attended in the past no matter how much I helped/didn't help. It's so obvious why people post these type of things. (and here go 20 comments with something like...you won't get anything out of convention anyway other than how to FOLLOW THE WORKERS and not GOD!! Ha Ha Ha Ha (insert much maniacal laughter here) Oh boyyyyyyyyyyyy. Haven't heard THAT one before...COOL!!!! lol M.

helping the workers is fun, and you all know it. and you can't attend a whole convention with an open heart, and not get something for your soul. reality check...

I worked at all of preps, both conventions and tear downs. At my home convention and out of state. I got tons of satisfaction out of it. But I can say , I never got anything for my soul from it. And if all those folks who never lent a hand were deprived in their soul because of ther unhelpfulllness......I would say that 800 folks never got spiritual help! :-)

well... um...I love to help and I definitely have gotten something for my soul from it. One, physical labor gets my blood pumping and therefore is easier to sit for the hours in meeting. Two, I dislike gossip for the sake of gossip... no wait... scratch that... that's not really true if I'm honest... my humanness really enjoys gossip, but God tells me that it isn't profitable to my soul to know every bit of dirt on everyone. And, let's face it... the friends dearly love to gossip so better to clean the bathrooms than get caught up in that mess about stuff that ain't really any of my business anyhow. Three, it's profitable because I feel inspired to do it and it is an act of love. It's always been my experience that when we do the things that God inspires us to do, we recieve blessing. In Rom 12:7 Amplified translation there is something about using our gifts. One of the gifts is "practical service". I can't speak from the platform, but I can wash dishes. Maybe that will free up some time for the speakers to pray more. And, God knows, this religion needs people who would pray more, read more, study more. The lack of that is, IMO, one of the reasons we've gotten really off base with the wacko dress code--too much looking around at other people, not nearly enough time on our knees. JMO of course. But... all this said, I disagree with the not getting anything out of convention if you don't help. I've been to conventions where I didn't lift a finger and have been very, very helped. It's rather... humbling in a way to know that you didn't do one single thing but God has still spoken to you. But, then, God is a generous God. Just some ramblings. --praying for a more Christ centered vision for all of us ex, 2x2 and outsider alike. peace to all, freespirit

I'ld like to help the workers, but they just plug their ears and run away. The only thing I got from the workers for my soul was sorrow and a blemish. Brad

Help others is always good. The problem is that help the workers or at convention is not a work of the the heart. Why? Because it is part of the mantra of Form. You Must, You Must, You Must. There is a serious lacking of I Want Too, I Want Too, I Want Too.
Its on the same level as. Hurry the workers are coming over. Clean the bathroom and put the cat out. Hurry hide the TV and Cards. Hurry put out the Bible where they can see them and hide the Josh McDowell books LoL Such a joke. ;D
