Very familiar. This conforms to the teachings of Jesus from which the cult of Christianity emanated.
It is self-deceiving to deny that the term "cult" is relevant to all religious beliefs whose members venerate and devote a leader.
There are degrees of cultism and the numbers of adherents tends to determine whether they are tagged with the cult label. The less adherents, the more likely others, particularly and ironically those who are also religious, will dismiss these groups as cults.
Wonder if it is a form of bullying and that there is safety in large numbers, which fuels the masses to condemn the smaller groups?

The cult label is also because they claim to be the only true way and all other churches are false. Salvation is only through their church. Sound familiar? For mainstream Christians Jesus alone is the way. Sounds like mainstream Catholicism for the first 1800 years or so. catholicism.org/eens-fathers.htmlcatholicism.org/eens-popes.htmlThe very recent liberal interpretations of "Mainstream Christians" would be regarded as horrific heresy by the Body of Christ throughout the millenia before.

Some guy I worked night shift with at AIR WISCONSIN AIRLINES kept getting woke up during the daytime by JW's ... while he was trying to sleep! He tried being kind. He asked them to stop knocking on his door and explained he worked graveyard shift. They kept it up! Finally he got so "ticked off" when they were banging on his door he went to the door naked and thrust the door open to find two old "bitties" running away! He yelled at them " I know where you live ... I'm coming knocking on your door at 2:00 AM dressed like this! He was Lutheran. They never came back.

He should have been locked up for having a weapon of Mass Instruction.

It used to be that all religions that were under 100 years old were considered cults. So all religions have once been defined as a cult going by that criteria. That would also mean the Mormons, JW's and 2x2's are no longer considered cults.

You have to be careful in reading how Popes and Church Fathers speak about the doctrine of Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus, as they often say Church to mean something different to what you think it means, as well as having inconsistent definitions between them. In any case, all Christians believe Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus where Church means the entirety of the Church Visible and Church Invisible (as well as obviously the Church Victorious).
