It would be a beautiful thing if these boys could be gotten into meeting where they belong.

Yes I love listening to all those who sung at the Gaithers gatherings ( not so much some of their mod hymns now). So many talented people.

Do you think that if they had "gotten into meeting" that they would have been allowed to continue to sing like that?

Yes and wasn’t it nice. I remember it at convention and then it disappeared. Shame, that for some strange reason it had to be knocked on the head. Harmony is beautiful.

[br I remember that too Wally and remember quartets sometimes consisting of some of the friends, sometimes workers, sometimes both, singing in harmony at funerals as well; they did this at my grandma's funeral.

It was always a great moment at Convention, when a Brother and Sister Worker would do a duet together, and harmonise, how we remember that. I remember Eddie Leitch, who would be an Uncle of the current Overseer in Victoria, used to sing a hymn with one of the Sister Workers. He had a wonderful voice, was always one of those special moments at Convention.

Yes amongst us we had singers that could have got applause on "Australia's Got Talent". Song is a big part of ministry. Those 2."Methodists" gave us around 14,000 hymns and poems (words without tune) between them. Fanny Crosby and Charles Wesley (John's brother). What a magnifecent God given gift. Pity these 2 weren't 2x2s ?. Remember William Irvine the 2x2 founder sacked a young disciple of his because he would not "SAY,PREACH" that John Wesley would be burning in "HELL". So these 2 dispite being unsaved wonderful folk who gave us Godly words of song and recital to use in so many areas of Ministry were/are by the 2x2s lost souls, terrible sad isn't it? Re 21st Century hymns and spiritual songs, there is some wonderful new powerful ones being written today,eg,by Stuart Townend and Chris Tomlin. Spend a bit of time and listen to the "words" don't judge the music or the dress of the singers,as we were taught to do.

Do you realise what you are actually saying or are you just used to giving out the cliches. I’m sorry to say this but I believe, you have set yourself up as superior and talk condescendingly about others who do not belong to your church. I’m left wondering who such a person is, one that conveys authority to say ‘they are unsaved folk’. I thought this attitude was going from f&w. Unbelievable ( but of course this attitude does exist, sadly) i guess your not use to magpies sarcasm about 2x2ism he dislikes them as much as you do if not more especially the "ministry"...

Oh ...no, I dont know anything about magpie or their background so did not see it as sarcasm. Had me fooled. But may I take this opportunity to convey ( and I think I have times before) I do not dislike ‘the people’ in general. I have good professing friends with whom I enjoy mutual respect.

It would be a beautiful thing if these boys could be gotten into meeting where they belong. They are Christians, they love singing about it. Their focus is on Jesus, does it matter?
For example - listen to the short message before the Hymn:

They're pretty good but I like the hymn NOT REDEEMED WITH GOLD OR SILVER better.

Make an exception Olea, it only links to Youtube. The message has more about Jesus than we heard in Special meetings, and the singing gives goosebumps.

Yes one can respect them for the spiritual experience they sing of. There is no mention or inference to the ‘workers changed everything’. Great voices.
