he layed everything out very well and showed the good things that have happened and the good things to come...unfortunately that may include war with N. Korea
i was a little miffed about amnesty but if we get the wall and an end to chain migration and the green card lottery i guess its a good thing...

MY COMMENTS:
PLUSES:
I don't think he mentioned the word "I" once. Yes, -that is important for him and hard for him to do.
He kept to his teleprompter. Another thing that is hard for him to do.
I think that he honored more people & their stories than usual. He pointed out badly needed projects like infrastructure.
NEGATIVES:
He didn't spend much time of the economy and when he did they weren't very specific
The people's hero stories that he did point out included only one woman, -but she was one in uniform so it cover two categories in one Pointing out the family who had lost their son after being in prison in N. Korea, -only hi-lighted the tension and inflamed the situation at the expense of grieving parents
Also, it was really over board to show the two families who lost daughters to the terrible MS-13 gang. But Trump brought those grieving families there to emphasize his anti-immigration policies because the Ms-13 gang were immigrants from Central American. To put grieving parents out in public on exhibition with them trying to control their grief for his own purposes is cruel. But as you could well guess, religion, -and esp., Christianity, -came up many times! Some outright, some subtle.
examples:
The couple who adopted the baby from a heroin addicted mother. At first look I thought she was a 2x2 because the way her hair was done-up, but later saw the necklace & ear rings. But they are are “We feel God has called us to do that,” Rebecca Holets said of her husband’s initial action. “It’s been on our hearts for a while.”
A North Korean defector Ji Seong-ho who escaped to China but when he went back to N Korea, his captors wanted to know if he had met any Christians.
Of course the usual "In God We Trust" Other more subtle remarks were scattered though out! I probably missed a few but I don't want to listen another hour & half
He did play to his, -as they call it, -base
Wow! I just thought of another meaning for "base" as I wrote that word!
