What do you mean by creating new life forms in a laboratory? Could we bring the dinosaurs back? Would congress decide on what new life forms should be created? Would methodological naturalism continue to be a recognizable philosopy? Would technicians be mixing a brew, clap their hands and say abcadabra, or would they borrow raw materials from existing life? Can we become god to this planet responsibly?

Right . What do you know about life after death? Do you entertain any kind of resurrection hope? On what basis are you optimistic about womans future? Lee, you ask: What do you know about life after death?
answer: I see no evidence that there IS any life after death.
You ask: "Do you entertain any kind of resurrection hope? "
answer: NO, -I DO NOT "entertain any kind of resurrection hope," -because I am happy with this life. I don't need a resurrection and again, I see no reason or indication of there being any resurrection or even any need for one!
You ask: On what basis are you optimistic about women's future?
answer: I am NOT optimistic about women's future.
The basis for that lack of optimism is that that apparently half of the people in the recent US election for the Presidency did not seem to care that the buffoon that they elected as a President of the United States is misogynist, racist, a divider of groups and hasn't any idea of what the Constitution of US means.
Thats pretty dire. Are you sure youre not projecting your fears? I didnt mean women per se but humankind. I thought youd appreciate the deference to the symetric capacity of each sex to represent the whole.

Yes, -it is dire when you see a presidential candidate like Trump expressing the racist, sexist views that he did and then see people vote for that kind of a person.
All the work that has been done to bring about equality and recognition that every one should be treated with respect; women, other ethnic races, the disabled, -everyone ; -was tromped on in one fell swoop by the voters in this country.
It isn't just that Trump won that bothers me, -but rather the fact that there were so many of my fellow Americans who do not see the importance of treating everyone with equality and respect.
Those voters for Trump either don't care about those people, -those voters want to repeal that progress or are they are willing to sacrifice the equality and respect for those people for a bit of material gain for themselves that Trump has promised them.
I am sick of heart. Many of us feel the same way. At least it is encouraging to see so many protest movements all over the country.

@wally
To follow that rule would require a completely flexible and conformist attitude supportive of the facist, dictator or other toxic and dangerous leadership styles.
You surely did not mean to evoke such a blatant lack of integrity Wally.

I didnt vote for a president this election but if I had it would have been trump. Leftism is a dead ideology. Radical equality does not bring salvation and it stands opposed to the second pillar of leftism, diversity. The ideology is profoundly incoherent.
I never took trumps rhetoric as seriously as leftists did. On the other hand his advocacy for our nation is what got him elected. Leftists are so consumed with apologizing for christianity they'll offer the entire country up for sacrifice. Do you want to immigrate illegally without any consideration for the economic impact to americans? No problem the left says. Do you want to import a religion that is hostile to others? No problem the left says. Shall we support global predators like George Soros for his support of leftism? How dare you would even ask.
Ross Perot put his nation ahead of the oligarchs but couldnt get any traction with the populous. Pat Buchanan was too christian. Trump may be the one to inject a needed correction in the US. Or perhaps hes merely the next fox to guard the hen house. We'll see.

I see voting for Trump as voting for building gambling empires, legalizing marajuana if I remember correctly, looking for tax dodging, promoting the rich and trampling on the poor, promoting abuse against women, having affairs with women. There's nothing moral about the man. He's against everything a good moral person would promote.
The country does not need an increase in addiction problems surely. If it means money Trump is there trying to cream the cake regardless of its moral value. Interesting he is anti immigrants but his own wives were immigrants.

Republicans generally believe growth is the path to prosperity and the way out of recession. What happens when the last square mile of frontier is paved?

i see you can't answer the question in typical liberal fashion, and trump is no hitler yet...

How about it rather being a "Humanist position" whereby it is an "ethical" stance that values other people as human beings and believes that they should have the the right to live their lives in peace without having to submit to some cruel and brutal authoritarian dictator?

In order for me to do that I would have to sacrifice all that I believe is decent and moral.
The man is a sexist, racist, egotistical poor substitute for a human being, -let alone the president of the United States!

But this is what we leftists wanted. We didnt want to go to heaven where there would not be any sinners. That was extreme. That was sinful. We wanted to cooperate with one another and learn to love and put up with each other and encourage one another to good works. Lets pray that the donald will be healed from all of his selfish egoisms and ambitions.
