Mauna kea 4.205 m. Mt Everest 8,848m. Twice as high as Mauna Kea. Mt Denali is 3rd highest at 6,000+. High and tall are different things apparently. Above sea level - high. from its base - tall. Always pleased to be the cause of someone learning something new. I was told that by a guy from the US - so I had some research to do as well. Texas has the biggest of everything

The lovely lady in one of my previous posts on this thread climbed Denali about 10 years ago and then returned a year or two later to do a route on one of the peaks nearby called Hunter. I have lost two friends in the area. Everest has sadly become a tick for rich people, guided by the long suffering guides and Sherpas who have to hold their hands. There has been no new routes or exploration for donkeys years.

Can't help but wonder, along with Eve, why the male has nipples. I am guessing they both have an umbilicus as well. Why? Gods beautiful creations

Attachment Deletedhe Whio, a NZ native duck. Photographed at Ice Lake, North Butler. Reasonably endangered and could easily go extinct due to introduced predators. Virgo, have you ever seen one in the wild?

hmmmm, Hauroko yes, or to be precise the rivers and streams flowing into it as they like fast flowing water. I would eat my hat if you saw one in New Plymouth, maybe up on the mountain or a bush stream somewhere but generally they are a secretive bird that sticks close to the mountains. On the subject of birds have you seen Paul Gibson's book on NZ birds. Beautifully done so I have been buying it for presents to family and friends.

Her fingers are covering where the artist would have had to paint an umbilcus for the man. Wonder if that was done with the purpose of evading the problem? ehum...

Didn't they teach you that at school? Quiz time: what is the worlds longest river, largest lake, biggest land mass, smallest island, and anything else that you can come up with, without sabotaging this lovely thread? Seems I already have. easy, american google has all the right answers The beauty of Google is that no longer does one have to get married to know all the answers

For those interested, Martin Gardner wrote Did Adam and Eve Have Navels?: Debunking Pseudoscience. An interesting book from a logical writer. Martin Gardner wrote for Scientific American and had some very interesting mathematical puzzles ... beautiful creations!

Texas has the biggest of everything Had some trouble convincing a Texan that his state would fit into Queensland many times over - and Qld is not our biggest state. That reminds me of a time a guy from California said that California was bigger than Canada. His friend even tried to tell him but he remained convinced California was bigger than Canada. When we told him that Canada was the 2nd largest country in area in the world, well that didn't go over very well lol...

Once a long while back, some of us were just chatting. We included an Alaskan among us, and a Texan. The Texan began about Texas being replaced by the State of Alaska. He went on and on, some of his comments pretty pointed. Finally the Alaskan said, "awww shut up, or else we will divide Alaska in two, and then Texas will be the third largest state."

ometimes it's the wee stuff that is fascinating. Here's some kind of fungi I found growing on a tree in the bush. Remember all fungi and mushroom are edible at least once.

Adam and Eve didnt need one.

Ahh, a grand sight when you do see it from Denali - the tallest mountain in the world! Although I have never seen it myself, I am told by those who have made the trip that the view of Denali, just as the sun rises and illuminates the peak, from Mt McKinley is beautiful beyond your wildest imagination. From looking at the maps it seems that Denali would be towering over Mt McKinley. I am sure it is truly awesome. Almost as awesome as the view from the base of Mauna Kea.
