Sameness is not demanded; it's an effect. How extensive is your meeting experience worldwide? I was just updating the information for Walkeer. The F&W fellowship sameness is not universal in every way and that is understandable. Nothing is normally exactly the same in every way; even in Political parties in every Country there are differences of opinion, not absolute sameness among members of the same party and that is why we have abstentions when voting. One must make allowances for cultural differences in the fellowship in the various countries as well. These differences do not mean that the members are any less faithful or righteous than others elsewhere. In some places we kneel at pray time, in others you sit or stand, same with giving testimonies, in some places I have visited they sing fewer hymns than in other places I have visited. Some rules are adjustable to suite appropriate condition prevailing. . Hi, Cultural differences are common in 2x2 group, as well as any other. Our professing son, at the time, was shocked when beer was served at the funeral of an old worker in Sweden. He understood that he would have been excommunicated in Canada for that "offense". Many "christians" might be disappointed to know, C H Spurgeon, a great evangelist was a smoker. He said grace, before a cigar thankful for the relaxing effect it had. I think it was Dwight moody, another renown christian, who questioned Spurgeon when he was lighting up whether he thought that it was god glorifying, and apparently Spurgeon reached out his hand on to moody 's protruding oversize stomach and asked him the same question. Haha. Enjoy a beer with the workers next time they visit or a cigar or if really daring and rebellious , offer a hamburger and some drugs, like coffee. Alvin

Seems like workers with connections to the Wolverine State are the most opposed. It has been opposed in the Old Dominion for as long as I can remember. One husband recorded a special meeting for his shut-in wife years ago and he was asked to delete the recording. I have always liked the idea of saving a recording of some meetings. I think it might be especially helpful in defending some things about us that have been taken out of context.Very true. I have engaged in quoting what was said on the platform, and I am aware of the danger of taking things out of context. It would be in everyone's interest to be able to check what exactly was said. I know there are people who take short-hand notes probably at every convention/special meeting, but how can those notes be obtained? Another issue is that the context is not always just what was said in the sermon, but also what was happening in the local church at the time. The intended audience is able to read between the lines and hear the message that would be lost on those who are not aware of local issues.

Virginia was ruled by Sam McCracken for many many years so it doesn't surprise me. I remember some mean signs inside the restrooms..Exclamation marks and NO please or Thank You. I don't know how Ray Hoffman does things. As a visitor, I felt uncomfortable being at Pulaski VA one year....Plus I hated that long steep hike from the parking lot to the shed.
I know older saints who would love to listen to a meeting in their homes.. In some states, you can hear Sunday morning meetings on the phone. Carl Hamilton is OK with it. Actually, I believe it is the opinion of their contributors that goes in some cases. I have seen workers move into another state and seem to change positions on issues. Just as campaign contributions influence candidates, I believe certain individuals have some influence over the workers in areas. There are lots of exceptions to rules, though.
