i like what partaker said...jesus is perfect, Jesus is the way therefore Jesus = the way = perfect there are no verses that say they way is perfect just observation... So Wally you believe Jesus is the Way, so how can we follow Jesus to a (T) ? Matthew 22:37 KJV Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it , Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. it is as simple as that

Virgo Prayer is good. It can be powerful to change. The other side is being responsible citzens. If we love our neighbor as ourselves we would take action when injustice occurs. or If we love our neighbor as ourselves we would not act with imoral intentions

do you think it would be better to follow what scripture say or what our moral indignation says? 1 Timothy 5:20 KJV Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. As long as they are low enough in the hierarchy.

Yes, be forced out as a bad example and a rebelious person. was the lost son made an example of because of bad behaviour? What can be learnt from the story of the prodigal son is that you should not just forgive you brother seven times but forgive him seventy times seven.

Yes Wally, but we like to think that we are above other worldly churches, so we must set an example and show it in our actions and behaviour, don't you think so? I acknowledge that we are by no means perfect. we might like to think we are above other churches which i don't nescessarly hold to, but we are not above Christ and i don't think it is our place to condemn others, praying for is the better option in fact the option prefered by Jesus I agree with you wholeheartedly 100% . No argument there.

In Luke 8: the Parable of the sower who went out to sow seeds, in v 15 it speaks of the seed that fell on good ground are they which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Good and honest hearts. Reading on this forum, one cannot escape the dissatisfaction expressed by those who complain about lies,( or an art of being economical with the truth), denials and cover-ups and double standards, which seemingly are practiced and are condoned by some friends and workers, so much so that one that is outside looking in, is left with much doubt as to whether there is a short- fall of honest hearts within the fellowship. We can hide the truth from man but we cannot hide it from God; for the sake of the Kingdom, the bad apples should be rooted out from the good ground on which the seeds fell. These things really do bother me and we should not be afraid of criticism,; if something is wrong fix it. don't be to hasty in case when rooting out the tears that the wheat is rooted up as well Jesus said they were to remain, we must let God do His work it is not wrong to report law breaking behaviour to the proper authorities Matt 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this . The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up ? 29 But he said , Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Yes that is a Reality we are faced with in life. During my upbringing the older folk used an "Expression" which baffled me, that expression was: " you should never cut off your nose to spite your face."

We have established that people in other churches can love their neighbours, atheist's can love their neighbours, so why do we need to go to meetings if the way to follow Jesus is to love our neighbour ? Surely anyone can do this ?

Virgo my question to Wally was in response to this "by doing what he commanded and by living the way he did" How do we as humans live the way Jesus did ? Again what does by living the way he did mean ?

So Wally you believe Jesus is the Way, so how can we follow Jesus to a (T) ? your gonna have to read the gospels to see how he lived... How successful are you at living the way Jesus did, wally? I only ask, because for the longest time, I had a very misinformed idea of how salvation was attained. I saw Jesus primarily as my example. I could read about His life, and I knew it was the perfect standard that God required of us. I could try and try to emulate Him in all things, and I deeply wanted to...but there was absolutely NO way I could. All that I knew was I failed...a lot...all the time, every day. I was miserable and had no peace, no joy and no assurance of anything, least of all my salvation. How could I when what I was trusting in to save me was how successful I was at following Jesus' example?! What I came to realize is that first and foremost, Jesus is my Lord and my Savior. When I get to the end of my life and stand before God, my ONLY defense will be that I trusted in the blood of Jesus to save me from my sin. I can't say that I just tried to follow His example if I never trusted in Him as my Savior. In the meetings that I have attended recently, I have heard a lot about Jesus being our example, and the need to "submit" and "be willing", and a lot of other things we "need" to do...but sadly, I rarely heard anything about Jesus being our Lord and our Savior, or that the only way it is possible for us to actually DO any of the things we "need" to do is through the power of Christ in us. Perhaps it's not so much that those things aren't believed by the people I was in meeting with, but just that they never mentioned it...which I still think is an omission that is very critical. I'm not exactly sure what you were getting at in your posts, but I don't think it can be stressed enough that while yes, Jesus is a great example for us, He is first and foremost our Savior...He saves us from the short-comings that will naturally come from trying to just BE like Him! You can think that you are trying to follow His example, you can think you belong to a religion that follows Him the closest, etc...but in reality, that means NOTHING. But scripture tells us if we come to an end of ourselves, realize that all our righteous acts, all our pitiful attempts to be like Jesus on our own, are like filthy rags and we place our faith and trust in Jesus to save us rather than ourselves, then we are a new creation in Him. We have Him living in us, in the person of the Holy Spirit...and His work in us is what convicts of our sins, leads us to repentance, produces the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, etc...) and sanctifies us, over time making us more and more like Jesus. It really is a wonderful thing, truly "good news" and ALL of grace!!!

i think over the last 10 years or so i have done a pretty good job following Christs way. sorry i'm not a do nothing Christian i just read in luke 19 the story of the servant that did nothing with the 1 talent the king gave him i think thats a fair story on that we are suppose to be doing SOMETHING while here on earth. there is also the story of the tree that bore bad fruit/no fruit that was cast into the fire also hinting at we are to do SOMETHING...
