20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please don't let Kevin Bacon die!

Interesting magazine "Freedom of choice is a unique privilege and blessing enjoyed by mankind.
This choice is given not without purpose, however.
It is central to the divine plan.
As the Qur’an says: “He Who created death and life to test which of you is best in action – He is the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving” (Qur’an 67: 2).
Since human beings are endowed with the capacity for discernment and reason, and given that they are held accountable for their actions with consequence of ultimate reward or punishment, it follows in perfect congruity that each human being is accorded the right to choose a way of life for himself." Sounds like a Christian magazine's evaluation, -only this time an Islamic magazine.

This is meant to be a joke:
We created a police force and employed a million policemen. We did some very cool things with CSI. We created a private force of four million security officers. We put two million people behind bars. We don't get involved in people's private lives anymore. We decriminalized adultery, abortion, gambling and alcohol consumption. We legalized dope and will soon decriminalize all narcotics. We decriminalized pornography. We developed sophisticated medical emergency treatments to handle stabbings, gunshot victims etc..
And as you can now see from the crime statistics - our liberal world is getting better!

I know you have said this is a joke, but I'm beginning to think you would be more comfortable as a Saudi citizen with their Muslim rules where these things are still illegal and death is the penalty for many of them? Maybe it's time you 'revert'?

I wonder though if Bert just throws out this crap periodically to get attention.
Or maybe he would have been happier living a century ago with days of Prohibition, when men were dying from poisoned alcohol and women were dying from illegal back alley abortions.

It is tempting to think that they wouldn't need that cart if they just got off it & exercised.
However, the more I understand the reasons for their weight, the more I understand how they got to that point & often are not as responsible for their obesity as we might think.
High-Fructose Corn Syrup consumption in the U.S. has increased considerably in the past few years.
It isn't agreed whether consumption of high-fructose corn syrup is linked to growth in obesity, but it does seem more likely.
One factor is that it less expensive, those of lower income are more likely to buy it. It is a most of soda drinks. (Note the at the person in the cart is reaching for soda)
The fruits drinks I buy have no hi-fructose but costs 3 times as much as the sodas & I do miss the fuzziness of sodas.

It's kind of a cruel joke, isn't it. And I agree with you about how it happens. It's not unrelated to how the "big" money gets to decide what the rest of us get to live with.

If an artist moved in a mysterious way, would you still view his work? If love moved you in a mysterious way would you succumb to it? If a scientist moved in a mysterious way, would you believe him?

If an artist moved in a mysterious way, would you still view his work? Of course. That is the essence of art. Love, probably. Lust, with discretion. I may believe him, depending on his credentials.
