I was notified yesterday that VOT has been taken off line permanently. While they are not at all the same websites, and had different Administrators, the ORIGINAL Veterans of Truth (VOT) website content is archived on TLT at: www.thelyingtruth.info/vot/home_splash.php

Go to the site and you will get an auto-reply message which indicates that the administrators and site authors had a falling out. There doesn't appear to have been any outside intervention.

I just get this: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.and a link to a video www.veteransoftruth.com/

There was a link that gave you an email back. Sorry, I'm not going to be the one to post the contents here, but it definitely was an internal matter.

My view is that VOT was merely a tabloid of the National Inquirer ilk and reflected the tastes and interests of the owners and administrators. Any internal turmoil is likely of the same underbelly of relevance. I finally concluded its content fed the insatiable thirsts of a small niche and, therefore, was of little consequence.

Uh, this is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper? They weren't on my radar. I thought they succeeded better at giving exes a bad reputation than giving the F&Ws a bad reputation.

I agree.
Though I am very grateful to be an ex, I never felt that I had anything in common with the people who were running the VOT site the last while.
I am happy and at peace, and value every part of my past, including the 2X2 part.

This archive features the following text: VETERANS OF TRUTH (archive) This is the original VOT website. It is now on permanent display for all to see, remember, and appreciate the difficult experiences cast upon those who sought the real truth. and at the bottom of the page:
NEWS IN THE WORK - A sister worker in Saskatchewan, Canada was put out of the work on February 16, 2001 for having contact with the excommunicated friends in Alberta. She was one of the few workers who did NOT believe in shunning ex professing folk whether they leave on their own or are put out by the workers. Obviously the head worker of Saskatchewan did not agree with her. [/center] [/b] Seeking truth? ;D This cutting edge, news-to-the-moment, scandal seeking trashy tabloid website ought to record the details of why it was removed. And it needs to explain why those who removed it were censored. I love to find the ironies in people who pull others down.

I think Paul warned mankind NOT to rejoice in others' downfall! I know little about VOT....and I suppose it served its' purpose and now is no longer needed! Seems time takes care of a lot of things.

I see what you mean by that. I was told on there that my input was valued, and that I would never be told to "shut up", and that they were happy to discuss things with 2x2's, but I got kicked out and told to never post there again. I don't mean to be judgmental here, but they seemed to be compulsive lier's, as if they knew they were wrong but were so in deep that they couldn't get out, and just like I said back then, I actually got kicked off for telling the truth. Anyway, I wasn't a bit surprised to see the last postings on that forum which ultimately ended in it's demise, because there sure are some people out there who need our prayers.

Bert - I dont know where you get your tainted information...but you really should double check it before you make wild statements like this--it really discredits the reliability of what you say/write. . The ORIGINAL Vot was moved to TLT with the owners permission. The Admin of the ORIGINAL was not "censored." (whatever that means!) She voluntarily gave it up and found two new homes for VOT: one for the old (TLT) and one for the new (Cheryle's website). FYI: Many people are aware that the ORIGINAL VOT was frozen for several years - a glitsch with the host...no changes or additions could be made. It remained at status quo for years. However, the owner had been notified that due to the glitsch, the ORIGINAL VOT could be expected to go off line suddenly sometime--but it never did. At a point in time, The ORIGINAL Admin didn't want the site anymore...and offered it to the other website owners. Ilylo accepted and posted the ORIGINAL VOT on TLT. Many people who loved the ORIGINAL VOT and gound it helpful and healing for them, suggested it would be a good idea for VOT be updated and contain more recent events and stories. As a result of listening to that suggestion, Cheryle took the name (with ORIGINAL owners permission) and published it as: Veterans of Truth, Past & Present. She used some of the stuff from the ORIGINAL VOT, and added other more current items. Now, Bert, what was your point above???

I'd say Bert is not refering to any of the long history of the website, except the final last moments of VOT's life, and the flurry of posting and deleting of posts.

Bert QUOTED info at the top and end of the ORIGINAL VOT homepage on TLT...and his comments concerned the ORIGINAL VOT - not the VOT-Past & Present. He confused details and material on the ORIGINAL with the current VOT situation. Which resulted in his erroneous comments based on equivocation.
In short, (as usual!) Bert rushed in to join the voices who were rejoicing over the downfall of VOT but he didnt know what he was talking about, and it showed him up. I merely explained it.

Agree with VOT or disagree,to me it's another voice gone silent. If all voices are silent is that good? One day all voices will be stopped. But for now, there is much hypocrisy and dishonesty ingrained in this fellowship known as The Truth that it has been helpful to have 3rd parties keep the overseers honest. I would hope that an organization known as the "Truth" could keep itself honest before God, but it doesn't appear that way.

Is Cherie's site down? Are you predicting its demise? What do you think of her site? This 3rd party site (Truth Meetings Board) isn't doing too badly. www.tellingthetruth.info/home/

Cherie's site is the history of the way.TMB is an open discussion board, not really a spokesperson for any one opinion. I'm not predicting the demise of anything. Opinions are like noses everyone is different and everyone has one.

Opinions are like noses everyone is different and everyone has one. Not quite. Someone is missing this nose, and the police are trying to find the person. Gogol wrote a story about a nose that decided to leave his face and have a life of its own for a change. It's a very famous Russian story. Anyway, Shostakovich redid the story as an opera in the early 30s and, would you believe it, the Metropolitan Opera in New York performed it just last year. That's a picture from the opera, The Nose, above.

The VOT team wishes to apologize to our readers that VOT is currently offline.
However, we are making every effort to get back up and running as soon as possible.
We also wish to thank everyone for all the support and love during this brief hiatus. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

We read that short story in high school literature. Thanks What. Proof writing about nothing can become an opera.
