I was wondering if they still have separate African American meetings. Do African American's go to the regular conventions or do the separate them?

Why would Africa Americans come to meetings? Meetings are to benign for the black community. The Workers Group has taken the man out of men.

Lenoir NC used to have a "colored meeting" (term used by the friends there) until they closed the meeting down and sent the African American friends to Hickory NC at the Jones' (wife is named Connie). The black convention at Boston/Scrabble has been closed. As late as 2001, the "truth" in Virginia was segregated.

Heaven will be segregated also. The only blacks allowed in will "Know their place" and not complain. (Property values and all...)

When I was a kid I remember a black sister worker. She was at one of the special meetings. I would think that by now the the F&Ws would not continue to segregate. Most black churches in this area are very upbeat (with clapping and many Amens!). I wonder if the the black 2x2 churches are/were that way.

WOW, I JUST READ THIS old post and it said as late as 2001 the meeting were segregated. That is terrible. Why? I did notice there is few if any black people at conventions in washington, idaho or other states.

Well, the workers have a lot of pride.
I've heard stories about the overseers even looking down on Mexicans.
It they're too good for people who believe in Christ, why not too good for "colored" people. (Besides the white colored guy who killed the Native Americans)

Oh come on now, you surely don't think people on the Truth Meeting Board are going to tell the truth that we have people of all races in our church, do you?

Arian political correctness
Why everybody has their pet fill-in-the-blank
Some of my best friends are fill-in-the-blank
We have many fill-in-the-blank in meetings

What part of the professing world do you come from? I've known of a small number of professing blacks in my area (pacific northwest) for years. As far as I can tell they are perfectly well accepted. Segregation? Maybe at one time in South Africa. If blacks have been discriminated against in 2x2 meetings in America or Europe I have never heard of it.

At one time black people met separately from whites due to the political atmosphere of the south. At this time, both black and white are gathered together in a convention Quakerstown, PA

I wish all of you could have seen the busload of our friends arrive from NY. Mothers, children, younger and older people, all of them of the black race. These dear friends at one time had their own convention but now it is not needed to do such and it is wonderful to have fellowship together. Some are from the old schooling and wear hats. Among our brethren are a number of older folks so there are golf cars provided to take them up the hill. Oh what a precious sight! These dear ladies riding so dignified with hats and brightly dressed.

The meeting I went to here in Texas before I stopped going, had two black ladies that came every Sunday and everyone treated them great. In fact, one of the ladies was actually picked up every meeting day by the elder or one of the other friends and driven to meetings, taken to lunch/dinner etc.

During my 22 years in the 2x2 church, I remember meeting only 1 black couple who were visiting the area (west coast). I do not recall any professing black professing folks in any of the fields I lived in.
Proportionately, however, black folks are definitely in the minority, at least where I live in WA state.

Humor. I remember when the first black astronaut returned , he was asked by a reporter, did you see God ?. His answer was " Yes I have seen her and she is black

I wonder what our relatives in East Texas would think about that? I remember the "n" word used quite a bit when we were kids. It aways seemed strange to me when I heard them use it. Of course that was then... late 1960s I think.

The 2x2 leadership is white anglo saxon protestant elderly male typically sporting grey hair, grey suits and grey minds. The make up of the 2x2 church obviously reflects this. If you're black, homosexual, mexican, former catholic or a single parent don't expect us to welcome you. If you're female we can find a place for you but only if you promise not to speak. In my father's house are many mansions but only for those whom we consider worthy.

I don't know for sure what they would think today but probably feel the same but would just not say. Thing is, when it came to the bread and wine passing, it seemed that there were those that made sure they sat where they got the glass first. Funny, I don't remember too much about the "n" word in relation to them but I don't doubt it either!

I can tell you for a fact that those that like the same sex ARE accepted. Their sexual preference is pretty much just not spoken of but rather pushed under rug as though it is not really taking place. A lot too depends on WHO it is! As far as any race coming to meetings, conventions - I have never seen that to be a problem in my part of the country. My parents used to go out of their way to hep a lady and then a man from Mexico (I had to try to interpret with my little 2 years of Spanish!!) and we took them to meetings and had them over for dinner. Same with a couple directly from India.

Yep - Dr. David and his wife, Indira (I think). Too funny about ther curry and lot of safron, too. Seems like they lived at some apartment somewhere - she wore that sari dress at dinner, remember. It was from her I learned that their custom was that the woman in India was not considered anything too important - she must walk behind her husband, with all the children, and carry al the groceries = no help whatsoever!!!
