This section of the forum is for asking workers (and friends for the time being) questions. It is not for starting debate. Friendly discussion for the moment has been allowed.
I've issued warnings in two threads today already and since then have deleted one post.
There is an entire main board for all the debate and controversy that you like. Please keep it there. If people cannot self-moderate, then we will change the format of this board.

My husband and I were raised on the West Coast USA and are both in our second marriage. We came back to the "truth" in 2006. We were in a state where we had full wonderful fellowship including partaking of the emblems. Due to things out of our control we had to return to the West coast with our little boy. We were told do not speak, pray, choose a hymn or partake of the emblems. We respect their rules here so we have done this for over a year. Not always easy but the Lord provides the strength to riseabove; Does anyone understand how in this way the stance of remarriage is so different if you are not on the W coast? It seems man has taken on sooo much power over the people Jesus did not keep Judas from partaking of his body and he knew Judas had betrayed him I don't think this will change in my life time but it is a hard thing We continue going to Sunday morning mtg where there is a wonderful spirit of unity We do not attend the Gospel mtgs as I was told to be right with God I had to leave my husband. Break up this home with a child? That is not the Jesus I know and love I'd love to hear

Hi survive, I was born and raised and got pregnant at 18yr. We married and were told not to partake of the emblems. 3yrs later the new workers in the area asked why we didnt speak or partake and we told them we had been told not too. They immediately said of course you can, you repented for the fornication and it isnt necessary for you to abstain. THis has gone on too long. They showed us love and kindness. Instead of judgement and discipline. My advice is do not wait any longer. Go to them and discuss it. Ask why you are being treated this way. If you need to, leave. Do not allow anyone to break up your marriage.

I am going back to meetings now, after a few years of leaving the meetings. I professed in 1981, in Myrtle Stitt's meetings, in Minnesota. I wonder what guidelines or sort of parameters the workers use in guaging when a person is ready to take part again. Please advise. I just want to get a better sense of this. Jeremiah

Jeremiah Good to hear you are back to meetings now. I believe sometimes a person needs a break, although most F&W would disagree with the notion of taking a break from meetings. It gives a person time to consider all the aspects of their life, sort issues out and determine what is really important. We do it via winter vacations often lasting 2 - 4 weeks. We just jump in our old pickup and camper trailer and head out -- no itinerary except to get a sun tan, wherever, whenever, whatever. There are many miles to cover and when we find a place, we don't do much -- just read, go for walks, talk with other campers, etc. The approach I would take in your case would be to just discuss it with the workers in your area. A good way would be to invite them to lunch at a restaurant. Then to get an good indication of how accepting they are of you at the present time, offer them an envelop with some money inside. If they accept, all's well. If not, you likely have a few more things to sort out. I would expect they are excited to see you back and all will go well. Good luck and God bless.

RonHall, are you serious? Thank God for the Freudian slips to the deep seated 2x2 beliefs in that they show how they really think----

I am in limbo right now, but encourage all the are still attending meetings to keep going, but open a dialog. I know how hard that is, but it needs to be done. Change for the entire group will only come from the inside, but remember that we are to be following Christ. If you are told to do something contrary to what you know Christ would do, either keep it to yourself, or try and discuss it with others. Not always necessary to talk just to workers. They are humans too and I have known some to be very wrong and stand by it, but it should all come together in the end. Pray for those that are off track, as well as others that you pray for...

I live in the southeast. My parents were divorced and remarried. After the divorce, they were no longer allowed to take part. However, after my their second marriage, both are allowed to take part. I don't quite understand why it is different in the West, but I hope you fund the strength to keep following the Truth. I believe everything will eventually be back to normal.

The original 'debating' board has morphed again. From a board for asking workers and professing friends specific questions, to somewhere where topics of special relevance to those in authority within the F&W fellowship can be collected for easy reference.
Clearday will continue to moderate and set the course for the board.
Here's how it came about:
*************************************************** Earlier today, I was noodling the idea of having a special thread titled, "Worker? Please read this...". The thread would contain selected posts from the board, nominated by readers and staff. For example, the D&R letter, Jason's recent post, some analysis and reaction over the blog takedown, random comments and suggestions for conventions or bible study topics, and well-written posts that convey how people inside and outside the church react to decisions the head workers make about scandalous problems. The thread should also include positive posts to show balance and reflect that TMB isn't always a bashing zone. A little like the "Post of the Week" thread, but intended to be a shortcut that might make it easier for time-pressed workers to access content without sorting through the dross of petty arguments.

The original 'debating' board has morphed again. From a board for asking workers and professing friends specific questions, to somewhere where topics of special relevance to those in authority within the F&W fellowship can be collected for easy reference. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place or not, but here goes . . . I suggested to an admin a few days ago that some of us former workers might be able to contribute to discussions related to the work. I don't mean to imply that I'm an "authority," but I do find that people have often appreciated the viewpoint of someone who has been in the work. I have seen a lot of speculation on various boards as to what workers are thinking, why they do certain things, how decisions are made, etc. While I in no way intend to minimize anyone's hurt or to discount their personal experiences, I do feel that the speculation easily leads to "essentializing" the workers and "universalizing" the actions of specific people to make "the work" a monolithic whole, with no individual actions and decisions involved. I do not assume to speak for all workers, or for any (former) worker but myself. I only attempt to share how I saw things, why I felt a certain way about things, made a particular choice, etc. I find it problematic when "the ministry" is regarded as something that must be protected at any cost, but I view it as equally problematic when it is viewed as something that is out to take advantage of anyone it can. It is formed by individuals, and must be addressed as such. So, I plan to watch this board, and will attempt to engage in conversations where I'm able to contribute . . .
