I recently heard that there were five American professing boys who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. Now years later there are five meetings in Vietnam and all five of them are in the five different villages where these young men died.
Is there anyone out there that can tell me if this is accurate?

Coincidence or spin? Spin, I guess.

One of the friends at Salem IN had a brother to die in Vietnam. And he married his girlfriend. Nothing wrong with this but some did complain about it for awhile.

Below are the names of the (5) 2x2 American soldiers who died in action in Vietnam. Of the 5 men, the only location of death given in the Ft. Sam Army Reunion Book 1965-1972 was for Tim W.
Workman, from Puyallup, Washington (died in the Iron Triangle near Bien Hoa in Jan., 1967) Allan Schwartz, from McCool Junction, Nebraska (died 10/25/68) Ronald Slane, from Joseph Oregon (died March 2, 1968) Donald Sperl, Juneau, Alaska (no date given) Ronald Stallings, Louisville, Kentucky (died Dec. 10, 1967)

Pablo about 60,000 Americans died in Vietnam. Of those 60,000 some thousand deaths, five of them were professing men. Thanks Cherie for listing them.
I was just curious about the meetings being at the place of their deaths. I also thought it was just spin, but I wanted to know if it was true. If it is spin, that's sort of creepy to me, and it's just the sort of urban myth type thing that folks pass on to make it all sound so grand.
However, with God anything is possible and I would hate to be saying it's all spin if, in fact, it is true. I hope someone who knows eventually responds.

I did some checking and this is what I learned from a reliable source: There well may a church in the areas where each of those five men died. There are many more than five churches in the country now. The northern part of the country (what was formerly North Vietnam, and where American servicemen were not in action) has been very open for the workers in recent years, and there are quite a few people in the 2x2 fellowship there. From the numbers shown on convention pictures from the South, there would be a lot more than five churches there. So it may or may not be true regarding there being churches in those five locations.

Only five American soldiers died in Vietnam? or is it five professing soldiers? Clarify. The opening post says 5 professing soldiers. Cherie was simply answering that post on that basis. I'm certain she knows there were many American soldiers died in Vietnam. I'm not American, the war was before my time and I even I know that.

Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find. september, do remember that for future reference

Where are the conventions for Vietnam held, Cherie? The worldwide Convention list is on Ilylo's website: TLT.

Ha ha Pablo, you should never have given it up! You can always tell a teacher ( but you can never tell them much).

Cherie, I notice no mention of conventions in Vietnam, and had been of the understanding that there were none. But then Singapore is not mentioned either so maybe the list is not complete. Perhaps someone can clarify. No Pablo, put your hand down !
