Blessings, Linda This is your work I take it? I do have a couple of questions since I cannot touch it! Is there a painting component to to the work? Underlying the surface design perhaps? Perhaps the blue? Is it all Conté or are there some pastels? It would be nice to be able to see it in a larger format. Some of the details are difficult to make out. I like the over design. Hope it met the criteria for the course!

Well done, Linda! As the saying goes, I don't know much about art but I know what I like.

Hi rational,
Yes, it is my work. No there is no painting component. It is all Conte, no pastels, which was a huge challenge for me. I never use dry medium, only oil and acrylic.
It was done in a hurry too. I had no idea how to meet the criteria for the assignment, and when this finally came to me, it was the night before the due date. Since it portrays the transformation of Christianity out of Judaism and ritual represented by the ephod and the Holy of Holies, my prof was satisfied.
Thanks for taking a look at it.
Blessings, Linda

It is all Conte, no pastels, which was a huge challenge for me. I never use dry medium, only oil and acrylic. I just have never seen Conté in anything but black, white, gray, and some sepia that almost reaches red. Never a blue like that. Just wondering.

Very lovely! You should sell your artwork. I've been selling mine for about.... 8 years.. I believe. It hasn't made me rich, but it has brought in some nice spending money- especially for birthdays and Christmas gifts!

That's so cool that you're able to make a little on your artistic work. I'd like to make enough to at least buy more materials!! How did you get started?
I'm submitting a piece to a local gallery for consideration in an upcoming exhibition. I guess some exposure would help, but what are some other possibilities?
What kind of art do you do? I'd love to see some of it!
Blessings Linda

Thanks outsidein, and yes, definitely Judacia. The assignments included ritual and transformation, so this piece is about that.
The high priest's ephod is shown bearing the jewels representative of the 12 tribes of Israel. The curtain is torn from the top, exposing the Holy of Holies behind. The cherubim are now outside the Holy of Holies, representative of the Spirit of God no longer being restricted to the temple, and they stand in front of the ephod, meaning the priest is no longer the necessary mediator, because Christ has permanently opened the way to the Father. The menorah, of course, is Israel; the transformation from the law to liberty in Christ represented by a larger menorah behind the cutain. Only three lamps are visible; these point to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I do hope someone else will post their artwork. I'd love to see it. Visual art and other art forms as well, can provide different ways to express messages. I appreciate reading another's message through visual art. Sometimes the message is simply, "I felt like making this." LOVE that too!
Please share with us!
Blessings, Linda
