Is anyone a fan of her novels? I just LOVE her work and greatly enjoy any movie I've seen in that time period. I love the way they talk and the 'balls" they attend, the clothing,etc...I'm just enamored with it! I came across the movie "Emma" based on a Jane Austin book, quite by accident last night and enjoyed it thoroughly. The 2005 version (I'm sorry, I know many disagree....though I do love ALL versions of this book/film!) of Pride and Prejudice has been my favorite movie of all time since I first saw it...I have I seen it SO many times since then. I watched a movie based on Jane Austin's life a few weeks ago....ah! Becoming Jane it was called. It was a delightful film as well, imo, but I was sad that it didn't end so happily for her. I don't feel as I am giving away the ending by saying that, as anyone who knows much about Jane Austin knows that she never married. As the film depicts, however, she was deeply in love though......and sacrificed for others. It was very touching.
Just simply trying to occupy myself tonight and wondered if there were any other fans of her work and the films.
ALSO...if any of you have seen the films I mentioned here (soyou know what time period I'm speaking about..the type of clothing/words,etc) I would be VERY intererested if you had any other ideas for movies I could watch......in that same vein. Movies, books, tv shows...anything. I just can't get enough of the era, and often think I would have been quite happy to have been born during that time period.....although life is so much better now in SO many ways!!! Women were women and men were men back then...if anyone knows what I mean by that....that's the part I admire most I guess. M.
