If you love horses & good books - I recommend Kim Meeder's books: "Hope Rising" and a "Bridge Called Hope" - all true stories of rescuing abused/neglected horses to her ranch and in turn these horses rescue abused/neglected children. Her ranch is Crystal Peeks Youth Ranch owned by Kim and her husband Troy. Located in Bend, OR. What a kind, caring, loving Christian woman she is along with her husband and staff. I would love spending time on that ranch. Here's the link to her website: www.crystalpeaksyouthranch.org

Another Book concerning horses: Horses And The Mystical Path: The Celtic Way Of Expanding The Human Soul. By Adele von Rust McCormick, PhD. Marlena Deborah McCormick, PhD. Thomas E. McCormick, MD Authors of: Horse Sense and the Human Heart. I find this book to be very enlightening and informative. Several stories and concepts warmed my heart and opened my eyes to thing id never considered before. At least one story made me weep in recognition...as it shed light on things I have direct experience with. It is a great thing , but also frightening to be aware of the spiritual lessons a horse can teach us. Frightening because it makes me see myself more clearly, more deeply. Read this book, you won't be disappointed. you can find it on www.abebooks.com.

Gem, in that case she will love these books. Caution: have a box of kleenix handy. I didn't get past the second page of the first book and was sobbing. horsewoman, I am definitely ordering your recommendation. I think animals are great teachers, in particular horses & dogs. I will never have a horse due to living in the city but I have dogs and they are way smarter than I am! Animals seem to have a sense of when we are hurting and their unconditional love is awesome and so healing. They are God's creatures. Thank you both for your responses - let me know what you think of Kim's books, if you have time. love in Christ ann

Ann...I just realized you selected the second book that I only mentioned...not reviewed. I own the first book, but not Horse Sense and the Human Heart. How is it? I was really excited about the other one. So many smiles and tears...Totally worth it!

I have both books you mentioned. So far I'm enjoying "Horse Sense and the Human Heart" - I was just reading a paragraph on if we want to learn about our dark side training a horse will bring it to the surface. How understanding comes from the heart not the head. I'm anxious to spend some quality time reading - for whatever reason every time I sit down to read something interrupts my reading time! I'll post more later. ann

horsewoman - I finished the book "Horse Sense and the Human Heart" - very interesting.
It verified for me how much animals know about us - if we just tune into being with them. Horses are awesome; and, of course, dogs.
Thank you for recommending these two books.
I'm about to start "Horses And The Mystical Path: The Celtic Way Of Expanding The Human Soul"
