Tonight I told my husband I was gonna be a cheap date and go to McDonalds for a McRib..Thats about all I like from there
My fav fast food restaurant is Wendys Grilled Chicken. I frequent them all and thats why my dr tells me Im 20 lbs overweight.

Have to agree with you there AG..............also like the warm Thai salads.
What , then, is the difference between apricot jelly and apricot jam.
My family used to make apricot roll-up which is basically apricot pulp spread thin and dried (looks like vinyl !!!!

I would have to say my all time favorite food hands down is definitely pizza. Next in line is still all the fattening foods..Tacos..Burgers..Steak Burgers and steak are not all that fattening (assuming you trim the fat) and use ground meat that is less than 15% fat. For example: Beef, ground, 90% lean meat / 10% fat, patty, cooked, broiled - 217 Calories (a little less than 1/4 pound cooked weight.) Beef, ground, 75% lean meat / 25% fat, patty, cooked, broiled - 278 Calories (again a little less than 1/4 pound of cooked meat) Or course if you add the roll that's another 120 Calories. Cheese and mayo - it will add up. But steak - lets say sirloin, 6 ounces of cooked meat (known in the trade as "Beef, top sirloin, separable lean only, trimmed to 0" fat, cooked, broiled") - 311 calories. That would be more than 3/4 of a pound of uncooked meat. Not a lot of calories. Now for your hot date: McRib. There's a quick 490 calories - almost 1/2 from fat and about 1/2 of the fat is saturated. But on the positive side - it does provide you with 1/3 of your sodium! And it is low in sugar. It is only available in a limited market since it's farewell tour. Well, tours! There have been three that I know of. I did discover they are still available in Germany. But I guess that would add a little to the price of the "cheap date"! However, if you are in the land of Wiener Schnitzel and Spätzle would you really want to visit McDonald's? Almost a health food at 300 Calories! still almost 1/3 of your daily sodium but lower in fat than the McRib.

My family used to make apricot roll-up which is basically apricot pulp spread thin and dried (looks like vinyl !!!! Thai salads are indeed very palatable too! Rational tried explaining the difference between jelly and jam to me: So I wonder where "marmalade" fits in there now! ;D

Unfortunately, I love food. I know why I'm overweight!
I've lost 10 lbs since I was in the hospital, however....after surgery and even now since I haven't had such a large appetite. This might change, but I know I will definitely need to exercise to lose the rest. As I can't just yet, I have to watch what I eat. A huge downfall for me is butter.
I love steak, grilled shrimp and crab legs...unfortunately, all loaded with...butter! M.

Gem , Thai food is a bit like 'generic asian' but the flavours are much more subtle, fragrant even !
Aussiegal, where I'm from, jelly is made exactly the same as jam except there is no fruit present- it is made from the juices of the cooking fruit and set the same way as jam with lemon juice or a jam setter.

So I wonder where "marmalade" fits in there now! ;D A type of jam that contains the rind of fruits as well as the pulp, especially citrus fruits.

Gem , Thai food is a bit like 'generic asian' but the flavours are much more subtle, fragrant even ! Lumping all 4 types of Thai food under a single umbrella is, I think, a disservice! I am not sure how they really relate to Asian foods (I am assuming Japanese or Chinese) when the Thai foods usually are identified by the presence of curries, coconut milk, fresh turmeric, or lime juice and these are not often seen in Asian foods.
