I didn't know the family personally but others might know...just thought I would pass it on. Some on this list may know Brianne Thue, Phil and Renita Thue's 17 year old daughter who was killed in an accident. She was apparently going home after work and ran into a farmer moving a swather on the road with no lights. Her funeral will be at the Didsbury Convention place at 11 AM, Saturday. This is a terrible loss - - - the comfort is that she loved the path Jesus trod - - - Please visit the Notice for Brianne Thue. www.legacy.com/Link.asp?I=LS000116099420XClick on the above link or cut and paste the url into your browser's address bar.

Funeral Service for Brianne Raquel Thue (Age 17 years) August 23,2008 at the Robert Stewart Farm, Didsbury AB Obituary read by Jack Redekopp
Jack: John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. We are thankful for the love of God and Jesus. We are thankful that heaven is looking on our gathering. Jesus gave his life because he wanted eternal friends. Brianne didn’t have that choice - her life was a gift from God. A gift given on December 24, 1990. Philip and Renita loved and nurtured her but she didn’t really belong to them. She was loved by sisters and a brother, friends and family. We are all here because she touched us. We want to put our attention to the God of heaven who gave her to us. Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For us to understand the whole picture, it is impossible. Don’t put a question mark where God has put a period. It is ok not to understand – someday we might understand. The important thing is that Brianne has brought us to this place. Life for many has stopped this week. We have been brought here by the God of Heaven and by His Son because God wants to comfort us, but more than that he wants to guide us and help us – to guide our lives. This is a friendship that gets fuller and sweeter and even better when we die. He will be beside us when we need him. We want to be like Saul when the light shone down on him and he said “Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”
God may have something for us to do. We want to be touched and moved beyond today to get to know God and to love him like Brianne did. There are four friends in Mark 2 that had a friend - who had a disease. In these times disease was equated with sin. These friends took their friend to Jesus. There was a crowd like this there that day, such a large crowd that they took their friend up on the roof and let him down to Jesus through the roof. You know, if you have been brought to Jesus, there is no greater friend. Brianne struggled with teenage struggles and she didn’t always get the victory, but she had some things settled in her heart. God took her home in that condition. … (told of Bri bringing a school friend to mtg)…She wasn’t ashamed of what she had and brought a dear school friend to the greatest friend we can have. I hope we will all get to know this friend. Congregation Hymn #287 In Jesus’ Hands Audrey Robbins It is such a privilege to be here – to prove the comfort of our great God.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And the latter part of verse 28 – “seeing the root of the matter is found in me?”
When autumn comes the branches are stripped of their leaves and they look dry and dead, but we don’t see the root. There will be a resurrection when the winter is past. This experience reminds me of a poem: …... I sorrowed when I saw the trees, By Autumn’s blast stripped bare again, While I mused they seemed to say, What mattered most remains… Job said that the root of the matter is in me. You can read of Job being stripped of his business, his means of income, in the same day he lost his 10 children, following that he lost his health, the support o f his wife and the understanding of his friends. He said the root of the matter is in me. The things that matter most remain. Last night we spent a little while with the house of clay that was Brianne’s body for 17 years. Taken from her were her plans and dreams, her friendships and relationships but the eternal future, that Cheyanne wrote of, remains. Her relationship with the heavenly Father remains. Her friendship with the Son remains. There are no more choices in this life- they have been taken. The choice she made as a little 7 year old girl remains. Your choice for right or wrong will stand for all eternity. Brianne’s mistakes are all past. What she made right will remain. The choice she told her Aunt about on their last walk on the last night of her life will remain… “I will never, never, never quit going to meetings.” Her father told me “I’m not sorry now for every time I tried to help Brianne understand what pleases God.” And her mother Renita said “I do not question God.”
A trust in God is part of the root of the matter. We think of the family and relatives and friends saying goodbye. It would be wonderful if God could help us understand the things that matter most. Our prayer is that the God of all comfort could draw near and heal each aching wound.
#130 Lord Jesus Teach me how to Choose (sung by those under 30, who stood)
Merlin Affleck:
It’s Obvious that Brianne touched many lives here. I hope that no one uses the word ‘tragedy’. Brianne has given each one of you here a gift. You could make this day a tragedy if you don’t get the gift. A number of years ago a young man passed away under similar circumstances and in his bible was this written: The greatest tragedy would be if what matters the most dies within you before you die.
Do you get it?
Luke 12: 27,28 (verses from Brianne’s last testimony) Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? Maybe the Lord has picked one of his lilies. Do you know where the beautiful lily grows? The lily grows from black, filthy dirt. Perhaps this is a picture of the world we live in. Out of this black world a lily can grow. Solomon could make beautiful things but it didn’t compare to the lily. We are thankful for all you young people and we know it isn’t easy out there. How does the lily do it? It takes out the good and leaves the filth behinds. We need to refuse the evil and choose good – for that reason there can be lilies. You can be a lily too. In Hebrews we read of those who died in faith. Dying in faith, starts by living in faith. Brianne didn’t have a fraction of a second between life and eternity but the stain is taken out of today because she died in faith. Those who died in faith were called strangers and pilgrims. A stranger is someone who isn’t home yet. There are only two possibilities, we can be a stranger in the world or a stranger to God. We can’t be in both camps. Brianne chose to be a stranger in this world. We all like to fit into the world and Brianne struggled with this like the rest of us, but we are so thankful today for what she chose. The world would like to take pretty girls and handsome men, talented people and run and ruin their lives. We are thankful for the lilies among us. Life is a vapour – our friendships and relationships will be short-lived – we can go out at night and look at the stars that go on and on and see a picture of eternity. God’s friendship is not a vapour. The more we love God the more we’ll become a stranger to the world.
I Peter 4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot – People will think it strange that we don’t run with them and that we choose to be a friend with God. They will pick it up in our talk – we won’t talk like them. Our young people have a different vocabulary – they use words like thankfulness and privilege, they say things like “not my will but thine be done”, “forgive them”… Brianne had a different vocabulary. When we are a friend of God, we’ll have a different appearance. The world wants you to dress and act like Hollywood. When we are a friend of God we know that the bible tells us many things that God appreciates. Even what we eat will be different – I’m talking about what you feed your mind and heart on. For example, I read that a child will see over 200 thousand acts of violence on TV and see over 100thousand advertisements for alcohol. This is what the world feeds on – think on this verse of the lilies. I hope Brianne’s life has shown us to be careful how we look, and act and that we take this gift for ourselves so that this day could be more of a blessing than it already is. Brianne’s second last testimony in her parent’s home was from I Tim 4:6, 7 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. So Paul wrote this verse speaking of a departure – the departure he was talking about was going to a saved eternity called heaven. She interestingly picked this verse. She didn’t know how soon her departure would be. Ships and planes all have a departure time, all have arrangements made. A price is paid for the ticket. Our price is submission. So when the day of departure comes will we have paid the price? For departure there are things to get in order. One of them is a passport. I had a look at mine and I noticed some things written there: This passport is the property of the Government of Canada. It must not be altered. You must take every precaution to safeguard it. This passport may be used only be the bearer in whose name it is issued. On the back, it tells you what to do if you’ve lost your passport. So where do you get the passport? At 7 years old, Brianne was getting her passport in order. You are a citizen of another kingdom. This is a responsibility, don’t lose it. Some of you may have lost your passport but it is possible to get it back again. If Brianne could speak to us I think she would say “If you’ve lost something precious, please get it back” To go some places you need a Visa – a stamp or seal in your passport. To a child of God, the seal is the Spirit of God. We can’t go to a saved eternity without it. We are thankful for this young life – this is a departure day for us but Heaven sees this as someone coming home. This is not a panic day when the arrangements are made. May it encourage us all to do the same.

I was finally able to get in touch with Phil this afternoon. He says that he and his family have been so encouraged by all the support they have received in the last couple of weeks. I was impressed by the amount of optimism that I heard in his voice. It was amazing to hear a father who just lost his daughter talk about the good that could come through the life and death of Brianne. He said that she helped him spiritually on the job site and He is drawn even more to follow the Lord, because of her death. (Phil is a framer and I witnessed, many times, the three oldest children, once they got off school, strap their tool belts on to work with their dad long into the evening.)
