Hi Gem
My tacos? Well first of all they have to be made with beef.
My personal style is chips in the center of the plate. Top with prepared meat, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, chopped green onions, chopped tomatoes, chopped black olives, chunks of advocado, topped with chunky salsa and sour cream. Some jalapenos would be good too.
Pass the plate and everyone can take a portion. Or let everyone custom make their own. (Great idea for picky eaters).
Speaking from experience, I think Michiganders are not real apt to spice up things and make them hot. I learned how to really season up foods after I moved away from MI.
Another idea for tacos - instead of chips, bake potatoes, split in half length-wise and top with taco ingredients.
Enjoy your tacos. I might just have to fix some this weekend. recentarriver

I like soft shell tacos the best. Meat, cheese and onions. I dont like lettuce or raw tomatos so I dont place it on mine but my family does.
Last night we cooked BBQ ribs on the grill

;D Thanks all for your answers! Has anyone ever had fish tacos? Never have! Sure doesn't sound like something I would like and I like to try "new" foods. Somehow tacos and fish just don't make a good couple (JMHO) ;D So tell us more about fish tacos, Gem. I have been known to change my mind. recentarriver

I have never had fish tacos before RA but someone said they saw them on a restaurant's menu and had one/said they were delicious. I know, who ever would have put fish and a taco together as a combo. Hey , if I ever taste one RA I will let you know...how's that? Gem

Better you then me to be the taste tester. I'll trust your decision but reserve the right to reject a taste for myself.
We went out to a Mexican restaurant last nite and the menu offers shrimp in various dishes. Now, I love shrimp but would not like it in a Mexican dish either.
have a great weekend! RA

RA Hey, I do have to say that some shrimp/mexican food it pretty good. But the idea of putting seafood in a taco just is not right . And...you would think, that since my two favorite foods are seafood and mexican, I would like the idea of the two together.....not so!! I just have to say too, that my 9yr likes tacos with ranch dressing. Go figure, the taste buds of kids Christ's Blessings cat

I know seafood and mexican together just doesn't cut it with me either. Has anyone used leftover soft shells as a wrap for scrambled eggs with cheese and hash browns? Boy is that good! Gem

Gem Here in TEXAS we call that Breakfast Burritos or Taquitos. What-A-Burger has the best Taquitos. As far as fast foods go...What-A-Burger(or as my kids used to call it Waterberger) is great!! But nothing beats my Mom's. All fresh ingredients...yes, she and my dad even make their own breakfast sausge, they have chickens, fresh cilantro...you get the picture!! She sometimes even puts in some small potato chunks that she sauted (sometimes the potatos are even fresh grown). Im not particularlly fond of the potato bits though. I do love living close to my Mom!!! Christ's Blessings cat

My husband was in the Coast Guard and we moved around a bit. It was always the hardest when I saw grandma's with their grandkids at the park. So luckily my husband likes my parents, and this area, and so we decided to go ahead and retire close by!! Christ's Blessings cat

I was looking at the new June issue of womans day and they actually had a recipe for fish tacos. YUK.......
You make them with fish and some kind of slaw. I dislike all fish and seafood and anything that has mayo in it so that lets me out all the way across the board.

A tuna taco? Now that's totally rad. Heaped with bean sprouts? Slathered in hummis?

Sounds good! We usually just put all the fixings on our plate and eat them with nacho chips. Soft tacos would be good. Haven't made those in a long time.

I am in the mood to try something different to cook besides the same old thing. Has anybody tried new recipes lately?
