Yea, my sister and I played war all the time...as well as cowboys. I had one barbie but I had a General Custer, Johnny West and all the horses and camping gear that went with it. I would have LOVED knowing the secret handshake. I so wanted to be a boy. As I got older I realised it was because I just loved the opposite sex too much....I just love to see manly men doing manly things. Military, construction workers, cowboys, and yes, even pirates cat

Hear, hear! Oh - this is one of the most sexist things I have seen in a long time. What about manly things like changing a baby or making pancakes for Sunday morning breakfast? What about women working construction? Going to Iraq? Or is this just a fantasy in your mind - men working with the sun glistening off the sweat on their shirtless rippling muscles?

Now that I think about it, they do - I'm a big fan of A-ha too. I guess I tend to hold them in different parts of my brain due to having been familiar with A-ha since their hey day in the 80s, and having more recently discovered Keane.

Hear, hear! Oh - this is one of the most sexist things I have seen in a long time. Oh puhleeze. Who has said that changing a baby or making pancakes is unmanly? I'm not physically attracted to women, but I'm sure those things may turn guys on. What kind of question is that anyway? I never mentioned anything about sweat glistening off of shirtless rippling muscles. But I do appreciate guys who look like men . . . most women do. If you happen to think that's sexist (I call it biology), then you and I have totally different definitions for the word. Now that I think about it, they do - I'm a big fan of A-ha too. I guess I tend to hold them in different parts of my brain due to having been familiar with A-ha since their hey day in the 80s, and having more recently discovered Keane. Have you heard A-ha's recent music (from 2000 to now)? Not to complain about their past music, but they've definitely matured in their sound. I like their more recent albums better than most of their earlier stuff.

Who has said that changing a baby or making pancakes is unmanly? The implication that there were specific tasks that were manly. Also that it was these tasks that made men manly. It had nothing to do with turning people on or off. It implied that to be manly one needed to be doing manly tasks. The question was regarding women doing tasks that stereotypically (athleast in this thread) were in the realm of "manly men". You didn't mention looking like men. You were equating their manliness with their occupation. That's why I posed the question regarding the visual appearence. The looks certainly supply the biological drive. But the occupation came to be long after the looks!

The implication that there were specific tasks that were manly. You see something that isn't there. Same as above. I didn't think I had to until the preposterous "sexist" label was thrown out. Exactly.

No implication there! Exactly.[/quote] But the entire thread to that point was occupations and not looks.

No implication there! That's right. And I wasn't the one who made the comment you referenced. But you were the one who turned it into some sort of politically correct argument against an imagined evidence of sexism.
