Is anybody watching religious movies for instance Martin Luther? I've never seen Martin Luther, but I loved the ultimate message in the movie Signs.

After leaving meeting in the 90's we bought a VCR and had movie night once a week with our then early teenagers.
At the same time my professing nephews were going to theaters and watching R-rated movies. I never could quite figure that out! Here we were the 'heathens' yet we set a higher moral standard for our kids than my nephews' family did (and they are considered blue bloods!)
There is a foreign film called 'Water' that is a must see. Ditto to alot of other suggestions: Dead Poet's Society (I watched this prior to and during my decision to leave meetings and it actually helped give me courage to march to a different drummer); Return to Me, BBC's Pride & Prejudice; Sense & Sensibility; the original Yours, mind & ours ...
Although I do watch some TV/movies, I find I still prefer to read a good book.

I loved Signs. Also... The Others, Birth, Galaxy Quest, The Family Stone, Howard's End, Impromptu, Love Actually, About a Boy, Crimewave (Sam Raimi and the Coen brothers - 1985), and last but never least Peggy Sue Got Married.

Is anybody watching religious movies for instance Martin Luther? Yes, kinda boring as far as acting, but what a show. Incredible faith and devotion to God. It was a great help to me in getting out of 2x2 stuff. There are some other great videos on creationism verses evolution. Hilarious comparison of the foolishness of evolution thoughts and the awesomeness of all the geological evidence of God's creation. The mechanical universe is great also. THey're available online. My science teacher told me about them. The order in the universe is incredible. Our whole math system is based on the laws of God. I also liked Pay it forward, Love comes softly etc. Brad

I enjoyed Martin Luther...I think the thing that stood out to me the most was the fact people were uneducated so relied completley on the monks for knowledge and understanding. That freeked me. I hadnt considered that fact before.

*Rocky - all of them. (Hmm, suddenly my brain froze . . was that the name of all those boxing movies with Stallone? Anyway, Rocky iv received a standing ovation at the theatre where I saw it - everyone was quite into the movie.) *Beverly Hills Cop - saw it seven times in the theatre and have the tape. BHC II is good too. Love the theme song. *Sneakers - have the tape. *Annie - first movie I ever saw in a theatre at the age of 14 and first movie I ever bought. *The Lost Boys - saw it thirteen times in the theatre and have the tape. *Ronin - have the tape. *Arlington Road - have the tape. *Shine - tape - excellent movie. *Dark City - tape - excellent and strange. *Trainspotting - very weird - don't have it. *Wag the Dog - tape - excellent. *Conspiracy Theory - tape - one of top favorites. *Full Metal Jacket - don't have it. *Platoon - tape. *Contact - tape. *Rites of Passage - tape - a must see. And without listing many more of my favorites, we can never leave out . . . . . *The Rocky Horror Picture Show - have the tape.

I've never seen Martin Luther, but I loved the ultimate message in the movie Signs. I'm feeling stupid. Not really unusual for me. What was the "ultimate message in the movie Signs"? I thought old Mel just wanted to scare the puppy water out of us. It was filmed near where I live, donchya know? My favorites are: The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) Gladiator Pan's Labyrinth The Lives of Others An Unfinished Life The Bourne (anything) Mission Impossible Syriana Lord of the Rings series Starwars Toy Story The Electric Horseman Raiders of the Lost Ark Blade Runner

What about the rest of the characters? Della and the dealer and a dog named Jake and a cat named Kalamazoo? What was the name of the movie, anyway?

You dare ME? That's a bold move.
I was just kidding about the title. Actually, poking a bit of fun at the title which seems to be no more than a listing of the cast.

Jerry MacGuire (although I dont like tom cruise) I love the way Cruise changes his attitude toward his brother from financial object to someone he loves and cares about. Once he actually loved him, all his eccentricities were tolerable.

Chariots of Fire Braveheart Fiddler on the Roof Ghandi
come to mind offhand.
Do you think it is possible to watch a movie that is over 90 minutes and has only two characters sitting at a restaurant dinner table, they only talk the whole time and you are engrossed by the conversation? Yes it is possible, watch "My Dinner with Andre" for something different and listen to some fascinatingly imaginative conversation based on snippets of real conversations that took place over a period of time between the actors, Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory, playing themselves. Not for Rocky and Jackie Chan action fans, but will interest some.

Why the confusion about Premonition? I haven't watched it. Is that the one with Sandra Bullock? I just got my own copy of Lake House, which I love. It's not exactly a manly pirate kind of flick, but hey, gotta get in touch with my feminine side.
