Harold C. Carlson, 88, of Lampasas died May 19, 2006, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.
Funeral services are May 25 at 11 a.m. at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home with Kenion Coleman and John Culver officiating. Local visitation will be May 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will follow in Robbinsdale, Minn., at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Home on May 30 at 1 p.m., officiated by Joseph Hobbs. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal, Minn. Visitation will precede the service on May 29 from 5-8 p.m.
Mr. Carlson was born June 26, 1917, in Isle, Minn., the son of Gust William and Ella Olson Carlson.
He attended school until the eighth grade and later received his GED from the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Carlson was a welder and a blacksmith. He worked for Pioneer Engineering and Tri-State Drilling in Minneapolis, Minn.
He and Helen Westman Johnson were married on Sept. 3, 1988, in Georgetown.
Mr. Carlson had lived in Lampasas for more than 17 years, moving from Crystal, Minn.
Mr. Carlson was a Christian and a self-taught accordion player, inventor and visionary. He learned how to type at 77 and became a computer enthusiast.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; a daughter, Joann Kloos, and husband, DuWayne, of Golden Valley, Minn.; two sons, Doug Carlson, and wife, Karen, of Round Rock, and Paul Carlson, and wife, Gloria, of Eagen, Minn.; three stepchildren, Phillip Johnson, of Lampasas, Karla Hastings, and husband, Allen, of Austin, and Jeff Johnson, and wife, Melinda, of Houston; a sister, Eleanor Bullick, of Calif.; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carmen Carlson; an infant grandson, Brian Douglas Carlson; and by two sisters, Irene Dahlin and Gladys Peterson.
The family requested memorials be made to Lampasas Nursing & Rehab Center's physical therapy program, 611 N. Broad St., Lampasas, TX 76550.
