Present. The Amber Alert has saved 100 children. It is NOT a waste of time or money or effort. There is no question that this system can aid in saving children. My point was that sometimes the resources are applied to the wrong place. Everything has a cost. There is the cost in dollars and cents (which is actually not huge as I stated but still substantial). There is also a cost of making people feel unsafe. Perhaps the greatest cost is using the resources for this instead of a place where there is a higher return. I think it is my duty to protect my children at all times. Here is an interesting question: What is the life of a single child worth?

If it were your child, what would you say? I think the life of a kidnapped child is priceless. The child was not given a choice. They were taken.
"The NCMEC aims to recover children quickly. Statistic show that nearly 75 percent of all children who are kidnapped and murdered are killed within three hours of their abduction. More information about Amber Alert systems can be found at http://www.missingkids.com."
Again, I think its fully and absolutly the entire responsibility of the parents to take care of seat belts, bike helmets and things of that nature. You must provide for them. They are your responsibility.
I hope you never need the assistance of the Amber alert system. Its too bad anyone needs such a thing. It is a good thing to have where as when I was growing up you just found dead kids....
Glad for todays technology and for the spending of the 10 million federal tax dollars provided for the Amber Alert system. I would gladly pay for saving a childs life if it makes the difference in their living or dying.
What are your children worth to you?
