These last few days I have been aware of a lot of talk that suggests to me that some kind of important Natural History Show, or Conference is taking place somewhere in the Antipodean former colonies.
Phrases like "The Wallabies will be jumping tonight," or "The Kiwi's will be flying over you," come to mind. The latter is strange because I'm aware that "Kiwis don't fly !"
Furthermore, these statements have been intermingled with statements claiming there would be "many conversions."
Can someone please clarify ! What has this to do with friends and workers ?

I am a kiwi. Maybe it was to do with the rugby game last night between the aussies and Kiwis (NZers) The supporters always fight about who will win and much to my sadness aussie won. NZ is out. shushy

The rugby was this morning. It was a good game, but unfortunately the kangaroos won!

AAAHH the rugger !!
Now I understand about the amount of "conversions!"
With the shooting season upon us I've not had time to keep up with these things. I know Scotland were marginally beaten (against the run of play) but can't remember by whom.
Had good bags yesterday of Red Deer, Pheasants, Grouse and Haggii.

Hamish, Where in Scotland are you? I'm also in Scotland. Possible we know each other?
Scotland made the round before, which was quite a creditable performance.
Did you get left or right handed haggii? Those left handed ones taste clarty.
ps. conversions don't go by amounts, but by numbers - you count them as they're scored, not measure them by the kilo.

Hi Geoff. We have a sub-species of haggii in our hills which actually have "double-jointed" limbs. This means the inside leg can be retracted slightly as it works it's way round a steep slope (clockwise or anti-clockwise) for optimum stability.
Similarly the wing joints operate the same way, allowing the haggii to achieve speeds approaching 280 miles per hour (faster than a peregrine falcon in a stoop) as they stalk heather shoots ! Otherwise the species is identical to those found in the rest of Scotland.
Now I meet with the McSplicks in Durness on Sunday morning, then the McGurks Sunday p.m. and outside the shooting season I try to get down to the McSplurgs on Wed. p.m.
Usually I pick up the McGurks for Sunday a.m. at the McSplicks along with Tam and Betty McMick and their son Mack. The Mack McMick picks me up pm Sunday for the McGurks.
When I go to the McSplurgs I usually take one or both McSplicks.
Today I am taking the McMick !

Geoff, I reckon I haven't met too many Geoffs in my life, especially professing ones.
I do remember one guy though. I'm sure he was from New Zealand. I was really amazed at how well he spoke English. However, he went to work in Iceland. About as unlikely as finding an Inuit in Calcutta, don't you think ?
