I like the conscious reminder at meal time, that it's time to focus my attention on God and His goodness to me.
I agree with Liz too. Why not thank Him in all kinds of other situations too?

I bet Greg Lee kept all his prayers for food short just giving thanks for the food. And probably kept anything he spoke short. I doubt it really. It's the worker in Greg, "at times".

I believe that graces and prayers/testimonies during meeting should be fairly short and to the point, especially in evening meetings. My kids are use to a 8pm bedtime, and sitting for too long is just not possible for them. I dont mind them being a bit wiggly, but I cannot stand when someone rambles on for 15 minutes, reading a whole chapter. And, on Wednesdays, some people feel the need to comment on EVERY SINGLE VERSE, and its usually the first person to speak. Therefore, everything anyone says after that is just a repeat.

Maybe that's why your wed attendance is a little.... well, you know

"withopeneyes" I think Gene has covered this one, most adequately ?

If we had "real" Weds night Bible STUDIES instead of quasi-Sunday morning meetings, I think they'd be a lot more edifying and enjoyable.
