'Celebrity worker' Bernard Manning has returned home to Melbourne, arrival on November 1st.
Bernard's entry on the AFTT website indicates somewhat impressively that he has preached in Australia, Greece, Portugal, Russia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and recently in South America (Paraguay and Argentina).
It is unclear at this stage what conventions (if any) Bernard will be attending for those hoping to hear Bernard preach or catch a glimpse of him during his home visit.

I have heard that Bernard was booted from the work for the allegations made on AFTT and that his preaching career is over! It will be interesting to see if he turns up at any of the upcoming conventions given the directive from the Victorian overseer that anyone facing such allegations should not be attending any gathering where children are present.

Is their 'little lawyer' involved? If so, expect coverups.

Is their 'little lawyer' involved? If so, expect coverups. The “little lawyer” will be busy trying to deal with the repercussions of having Bernard wandering around his fan club here in Oz. The Oz hierarchy have been successful in keeping him out of the country and letting other jurisdictions handle him, however he is now here to stay.

I had personal experience with Bernard when I was a teenager. I got invited to his room at Pukekohe Convention because he was interested in having me as a pen friend when he returned to Russia. Nothing happened, but I politely declined, as it just wasn't me. He may have written anyway, via my parents. I can't remember. Some costings have been done by people in the know, for the Australian and NZ Conventions. For the flights that have been booked, not taking into account other expenses, it comes to over $98,000. Enough to pay for 822 therapy visits for victims. Not bad for the homeless and penniless living of a Widows last two mites!

Can anybody in Victoria confirm whether or not Bernard Manning has been attending meetings, since his return to Australia?

Conventions are also about to start in Victoria with Speed going from Nov 21 to 24, then Thoona from Nov 28 to Dec 1, with another two scheduled in Drouin and Colac. I hear that people are wondering if he will show up to convention.

Have the friends in Melbourne been notified by those in charge?

Have the friends in Melbourne been notified by those in charge? I am not aware that anything has been said by the overseer in relation to Bernard. He is a “cult hero” in Victoria and Tasmania and many believe he can do no wrong.

If you click on the link called airfares in my earlier post, you will be taken to the TBTANZ page that has the workings. They are conservative too.

How did you arrive at the figure of $98,000. @christianburg If you follow the link in Pragmatic's post above it'll take you through to some source information. Pretty reasonable estimates, a bunch of assumptions made, and based on good info available at the time. Actually it'd likely be pushed higher than calculated $ when you now consider last minute changes (e.g. recalling preachers when they were 'univited' from Western Australia back to New Zealand), flying other preachers in at the last minute, flight changes (or forfeiture and purchasing replacement last-minute tickets). No matter how you slice and dice it, just looking at the orders of magnitude of it, without getting buried in the gravel and weeds (because anyone can dispute the assumptions made, and different jurisdictions pay for different travel costs). It's probably more than $10k, $20k, $30k, $40k, ..., probably less than $200k, $175k, $150k, ... . It's an appalling amount of money to spend flying preachers around the world with the single and sole function to preach to the converted. No outreach, no saving souls, nothing but a blindly followed ritualistic junket soaked in the odoriferous effluvium of misguided excess and privilege. Either the Institution outposts around the world have so much money that these excesses are simply inconsequential to their bank balances (cash hoardings) that it warrants nary a fleeting thought as they peel off real money from their rolls of cash, or they fail so completely in their understanding of their purpose as a true servant. Or maybe both!

Elevating the Workers to the same level as Moses, Elijah etc. Sadly the root cause of the Bruergate crisis is not being addressed. Here's the level workers should be "elevated" to: Matthew 20:25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Or maybe both! I believe the main purpose is "unity". To keep it "the same the world over". I wonder how many of these airfares would be business class. All of them? Or just the most senior workers?

I think the original intent was unity, and it made some sense as far as the message being preached. But that all started to go haywire when George Walker and Jack Carroll had their differences, and then exacerbated when Howard Mooney came out with his dissertation regarding Christmas, which was contrary to the traditions down under.
With the Internet making the world a smaller place, and worker sermons being shared online (even against their express edicts!), I personally think it is now more about a junket for seniors, and rewarding good behaviour!

I have heard that Bernard is telling people that he expects to have a companion next year and resume preaching in VIC/TAS. I can’t believe that the overseer here would be so stupid to allow this happen as it goes against the so called guidelines that he is promoting!! Apparently Bernard is not attending gatherings where children are present, so I am not sure how this is going to work with his preaching and other worker duties.

Who is Walter Goodridge? Where is he from? Does he have history? Not that I am aware of. He may be not a bad bloke, but he is part of the system that hasn't proven to be beyond reproach!
I believe Bernard spoke at a Queensland Convention recently, and even mentioned that 'being saved by Grace is not incorrect'.....baby steps!

I find it interesting that people look to Bernard Manning for spiritual guidance and at the same time know about his sexual shenanagins. That perhaps is why the church has a problem.
